Self Assessment. If you can log in to your Personal Tax Account you can get into Self Assessment. Just click on the Self Assessment tab on your PTA home page. (Can someone who isn't in SA confirm this?)
Strangely though, whilst there is an SA tab if I log in via the Govt Gateway there is no SA tab if I log in via GOV.UK Verify.0 -
My main income nowadays is from PAYE pensions, too. I don't believe that HMRC can refuse SA. Has anyone every been refused?
The OP on this thread was told not to fill in SA "willy-nilly" but I don't know if they could have been refused had they insisted.0 -
Both:
HMRC have attempted to shake people out of SA over the years - and that's fair enough.
I'm just addressing an MSE audience who seem to be taking the most steep and stony path they can find to true enlightenment.
RG2015:
Strange to find gov.uk inconsistent? YMBJ. :rotfl:0 -

Oh yes, there does seem to be a general fear of the concept of "doing a tax return" - when putting the information into the fairly well-structured SA tool is in fact much more convenient than writing multiple letters, making phone calls, expecting your tax code adjustment to have just the right effect, etc etc!0 -

But you are correct in that there is no way of knowing what strange offerings will appear on HMRC or GOV.UK sites.
I also wonder if you publicly commending the latest HMRC SA site is tempting fate.

Oh, I recognise that risk. You folk are getting so much RSI over the PTA, though, that I spoke up.
It is a shame that a generic version of SA - one without the "submit" feature - isn't available. I guess that HMRC don't want the extra responsibility of maintaining such a tool in parallel with the real SA software, of fielding all the extra support needed to address user queries, of providing facilites to store your data etc.0 -

And whilst I appreciate you speaking up I am pleased to advise that this particular member of the folksy union has no PTA related RSI symptoms .0 -
Interesting. Mine used to show interest but it isn't there now.
I went over £1k interest in 18/19 though not by a huge amount. I've bought a property witht he cash now so won't get anything like that this year. I'd really rather not be faffing with estimated interest income and all that and would much rather just send them the money for what I owe for last year; does anyone know if that will possible? I can't find clear answers.
Call them and they will send you a bill that you can pay by cheque.0 -
