I cannot make any further changes to the tax charged on my interest for the last tax year, due to the system not allowing me to do so, but as the interest is now showing under £1000, I am not particularly bothered.

I know that there are further accounts not yet showing, and I am expecting them to be added by June and that I will have more tax to pay, as I also have extra tax to pay this tax year for 17/18

For the tax year 19/20, I am not likely to be getting over £1000 interest, so I want to make amendments when the interest received in showing online. One thing I would like to know is how to show the interest. I can only add interest in pounds, although HMRC shows the pence as well.

Although I filled in all the SA data (all 7 numbers, 1 sentence of text and quite a few tickboxes) yesterday I didn't proceed to the final "submit return" page. That's not lack of confidence in my data - but all I wanted from them was the SA302 calculations so that I could compare them with my own. Keeping the SA unsubmitted also means that when folk on here ask how something or other is handled by HMRC, I can do a what-if and so return an answer in place of a guess.

Don't submit your return too soon! Last year people who filed early got issued with a penalty! It was corrected later I believe but that is stressful when you don't want any just for filing early.:(

Apologies. I had second thoughts and deleted my post after about 30 seconds.

You must have been quick off the mark.

just wondering if anyone can view their interest income from the last tax year. I can only see income related to employment at the moment.
  • You might be able to see the estimated amounts HMRC have used (based on what was received in 2017:18, what you included on your 2017:18 Self Assessment return or what you notified them of by letter or phone call) but you won't be able to see the actual information for 2018:19 yet.

Banks have until 30 June to supply this to HMRC in the first place.

If you log into your personal tax account and then click on the link below you may see previous year's interest income. You may also see individual details if you click on the green box towards the foot of the page.

It may only show reported income for the tax year 2017/2018 but I am expecting it to be updated to 2018/2019 within a couple of months. I would also expect the link to be available without having to resort to a "back door" link.

I have almost totally given up on accessing anything to do with income from interest on the GOV.uk website. Nothing but earnings, pensions and allowances. Wherever I look and however I try to access things following the various suggestions on here.

I've had the P800 for 2017-18 on which the interest figure is excessive by £93, so we're talking £18 odd in tax to be refunded. I'm not bothered about having to wait for such a modest amount - though I'm not giving it up!

Early in March I managed somehow to find an e-mail address and I've got an online support reference, which feels in the circumstances like gold-dust! I suggested that the easiest way of sorting out the discrepancy was for them to send me their list of the interest figures they have used and I would then tell them where we differ. (I think someone else on here had success with that?)

I've sent two reminders which have been acknowledged, the last one on April 8th - with the same reference! - so I remain hopeful.
