My 'manage orders' page is taking ages to update sales after I get a SDN email - waiting a couple of hours in some cases - is this happening to anyone else?
    Joe

Today, 15th, I got an SDN email confirming buyers purchase on 13th.

Cue mad rush to the post office followed by apologetic shipment notification email to buyer.

Something weird is happening, as the order date in "Manage your orders" is 13th but the transaction date in "View your payments account" is 15th.

Amazon seem to have changed their systems, eg the Packing Slip now shows Condition & Comments from the listing, which I don't recall seeing before and seems a good idea. Maybe the process of implementing changes has caused the delay?

Luckily, I haven't had any problems with SDN mail, mine's pretty instant I think. Hope you get it sorted though. Another book sold, but only made £1.10.

The difference is that people charge more to cover the P+P as you have to offer free P+P on play, but Amazon allow a charge for postage. But that said, I make more sales on play compared to Amazon...so that seems to be where the customers are.
I'm looking for the "fees" on Play bt can't seem to find the webpage for them, any chance you can post a link or list the % charge?:o
    Thanks for any help

i had a 3 or 4 day delay in receiving an SDN email this week. Fortunately I'd logged in to my account to obtain delivery addresses for other orders when I spotted it so it was sent the same day, but then when I did eventually get the email I thought I had sold another of the same item.

Looking at the seller discussion board there are a number of minor problems at the moment.

I had a problem with a pending book, went pending one day and sold 3 days later but the guaranteed despatch date and time was the exact moment it had sold, so technically I was in breach of T and Cs as I despatched 'late'. It was as though the clock for despatch started at the exact moment it sold, and didn't take into account the pending bit. It seems I am not alone in this though.

  • Are my calculations correct that Amazon charge 35% commission fee? (Normal Seller that is)

nope. its a bit more complex than that and varies depending on what the item is.

"Individuals selling at Marketplace pay a GBP 0.86 per item completion fee, plus a closing fee of 17.25% of the sales price (11.5% for Electronics & Photo items) for each item sold."

You also get a postage credit, but amazon take some of it as a closing fee

I do feel that amazon charge quite a lot for selling on there. But I got 4 boxes of books for free and just want to make some money out of them, so am not really that fussed, especially as I seem to sell almost a book a day.

Are you selling the books at a fixed price each? if so it might be an idea to have a scan through amazon and ebay for each title you have and price them accordingly you may come off a bit better this way
