Thanks for the quick replies. I think we are going to have to leave it, such as shame as its a cracking house.

    Pick 2...

The fact is that unless you've got an unlimited budget, every property you look at is going to involve some compromises, but only you can judge what is a deal-breaker for you - it's your money after all!

Also, if you are actually looking to move, you need to consider this property in the context of what else is also currently on the market in your price range - there's no point considering a property in isolation (and rejecting it) if it's still the best of a bad bunch!

That or you need to manage your expectations as to what your money can actually buy....

that is the house, the new builds are going right along the side fence right next to where the owners have their hot tub. i think this will be looking in to the conservatory room, or am i being too paranoid??

Pic 9 and 23 are best to see what I mean

Assuming the back gardens of the new builds back onto the back gardens of the existing houses, then you'll only be overlooked from the 1st floor bedrooms, and most people don't spend too much time in their bedrooms when they're not sleeping. Furthermore, this arrangement is fairly common, including other properties in the existing development - I think you're being overly paranoid on this one.

Yeah that is the way they are going to be built, going off how the development is taking shape already. That is why i asked on here to get others opinions on if i was being daft or not especially when it comes to resale time - we wont need 4 beds for ever and I didn't want to get stuck with an expensive (to us) house we cant sell. I will wait for a few other who may have time to look at the link before i rule it out or in. I do really like the house though so its a tough one.

This wouldn't put me off. Most houses in towns are surrounded by others, particularly on estate settings. As ReadingTim says you are only likely to be overlooked by people on the first floor. There may be more noise of course, from people using their gardens, not sure if that would be an issue?
Agree it is a really nice house. Only you can decide if the other houses would put you off.

For me personally, the thoughtof living on a building site for the next year or so, and not knowing exactly how much the new houses would affect my home would be very offputting.

That said, if you buy it, when you come to sell the other houses will be in situ - most houses have neighbours so preopel looking to buy from you may well be less put off than you personally are now, having seen it as it is with open space next door.

I would go and look. It really depends what else is available in your price range.

No house is perfect. Compromises have to be made.
