Ryanair petty law-breaking - bait and switch on hot drink and KitKat

Ryanair's Lavazza coffee, with the special grains brewed in the cup is always pretty satisfactory.

For a couple of years they've offered a combined deal - for €4.50 you can get a chocolate bar with it - I normally choose a four-finger KitKat bar.

Did so again yesterday. There it was - top of page 7 in the inflight magazine €4.50.

I took delivery of my deal and came to pay and noticed I was being debited €5.00.

"Yes sorry, we know it says €4.50 in the magazine but it's been changed."

"So you owe me 50 cents change?"

"No. Sorry about that - the machine won't let us charge anything but the €5."

Why do their managers take short cuts?

Every time they do something petty like this we are all entitled to ask "What other shortcuts do they think they can take in their business?" and I make no apology for asking it again.

By the sound of things they had accepted his money before telling him that the price had gone up, so a contract had been formed.

They've probably workshopped the idea that anyone stupid enough to pay in excess of four quid for 3/4s of a cup of luke warm instant coffee and a chocolate bar won't care about having their bottom slapped after they've pulled your pants down.

If this prices have changed it must have been yesterday.

I flew on the evening of March 30th and my Coffee and Twix cost me €4.50

Looks like you've been well and truly had - Ryanairs new menu valid from this weekend for the summer period still shows it at €4.50

Me and several thousand others by now? I've not been well and truly had, k3lvc, nor have I had my bottom slapped thanks, cubegame. What I've had in fact is a chance to pull Ryanair's pants to demonstrate unlawful commercial practice.

I'll try the same deal again next flight and see what they've learned, and if it is nothing learned, then that means I am entitled to ask again - "What else are they taking shortcuts over at 11 miles up when it's minus 56 degrees C outside?"

I disagree about the coffee - those stupid cups are really difficult to drink from and the coffee tastes grainy.
