OP still does not understand the concept of going online and managing the account and does not understand that the bills will be online ready to be seen. Sometimes it gets pointless trying to give advice:(0

Your experience is different to mine as I did not get a bill. if you look through the threads I have put my readings for gas and electric, these were taken directly from my account on E.on website. You will see not used for billing, that is where I think Eon as a company have not done the job as a supplier and produced a bill, if they had I would have changed my DD and everything would be fine.0

It depends on the supplier & the tariff. I am two months into an EDF 2 year fix & have been entering my meter readings every couple of weeks but no bills have appeared in my online account & according to the EDF website because I am on a Budget Direct Debit it may be up to 12 months before I receive my first bill! This seems a crazy state of affairs. I am monitoring my consumption & calculating what my bills should be compared to my direct debit so in a few months if my account is wildly in credit or debit I shall contact EDF to adjust the DD.
When you see threads on here of the pickles that some people get into with DD not matching consumption I am really surprised that a Big Six supplier would take up to 12 months to produce a first bill.0 -

I believe the "not used for billing" merely means that the readings failed the validation process....and when you say "did not get a bill" did you request one ? 12 months is far too long.....especially if your not keeping tabs of your usage and expenditure yourself0 -
If I remember correctly you have to tick a box to be billed.0

The OP's first post says that Eon have offered a compensation payment so I presume there was something wrong.
However the point that the forum users are making are that the OP should take control and monitor their account otherwise chaos follows (as it has). OP owes money and doesn't know where his energy is being used.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I still can't really understand why, if the on-line account said that a reading hadn't been used for billing that the OP didn't query the fact at the time and, for some reason, left it for 11 months before doing anything about it and is now wondering why it has all gone horribly wrong.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

That just mean that particular meter readings are not used for billing but the others are. From my experience, eon generate the bills quarterly and any readings submitted between the billing dates are not used for billing. I can almost bet that the OP has the quarterly bills in their account (because the end of quarter readings are not marked “not used for billing”) but did not know about it because eon didn’t send any message the bills are there.0 -
When I was with SSE they only billed quarterly even though I had a smart meter. I could see the smart meter info but the bill only gave the meter reading at the end of each quarter although the statement had DD info.
They did not notify me when bills were made up - I had to open my on-line account to see them. The bills also advised me if they thought that my DD was insufficient unlike Scottish Power who would just arbitrarily change them either up or down depending on the previous quarter's results which meant I had to argue to get it restored to ensure that my account balanced.
My last three suppliers have produced monthly bills/statements based on my readings (or estimates if I don't give a reading) but non have e-mailed me to say that they were available to view or download - that's something I do without needing to be prompted, similar to my bank account - I check them every month to make sure that they are accurate (including my bank account) so I don't get any surprises.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
