I just think it's all a bit too much and that they're trying to use my old address to sent court action papers to in hopes I don't get them.

Honestly could see these weirdo's doing that.

Happens time and time again. Read the same story every day on here.

If they can think of a way of getting a Judgment against you then they will try it, and the easiest way of doing that is to serve court papers to an old address in the hope you never get the opportunity to defend yourself.

Quite sad really, but you guys give some of the best advice out there, so hopefully they're getting what they deserve really.

I'm gonna give citizens advice a bell in the morning and get a case written with them. Hopefully as the ICO are involved now that this won't happen to me.

I contacted PC world who own the land and they have failed to respond. I might take a pop in there tomorrow too and see how that goes.

And here's some more sad stuff you need to know...

    1) It is quite likely that Citizens Advice will suggest you pay the parking company.

    2) Unfortunately, the ICO seem to move at an incredibly slow pace.

    That is quite sad lol.

I'll see what pc world say then, I'd hope they can cancel it to avoid all this unnecessary effort.

Probably won't even call them, because it ain't getting paid. It's up at like £170 -_-

As KeithP says, the CAB are clueless about the parking scam

Yea, I never did bother calling them.

I visited the store and the manager has emailed them asking them to cancel it.

She said if I do not receive a reply within 5 days, come back in and see her.

    Now that's good news!

Make sure you still make that ICO complaint though, regardless.

The point is, ECP already KNOW you were the keeper of the car because THEY got that info from the DVLA already...so there is no excuse at all not to rectify the address.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

For sure, couldn't agree more. The complaint is with ICO.
  • Hey div123div! Thank you for this thread - I'm in a near exact situation, only the car park was at a retail park instead of a specific shop. What did you say to PC World? I know we're not supposed to reveal the driver so how did you speak about cancelling the fine without doing that?

...Not hijacking, just asking for a bit more detail!!

Can you not say something like "we visited your store and were stung for a horrific parking fee"?
