Could a quick friendly call solve this instead of writing to them?

Just simply call, make them aware of this situation and make sure they take down my new address? Or is that not advisable.

Go to the ECP website, privacy section (maybe a sub-set of their Contacts page) and the email of their DPO (Data Protection Officer) should be there.

Head your email ‘Data Rectification Notice’.

You will never, ever have a ‘friendly call’ to a predator who simply wants your money.

Have everything in writing - there are no records of ‘friendly’ phone calls.

    "Hi,

My name is (""") and I am contacting you today in regards to a debt collection letter I received with very threatening behaviour from Debt Recovery Plus.

It is my understanding that you issued a parking charge to my old address (****)

I did not receive such notices as I had moved address later that month, so the information you have on board your systems may not be correct/up-to-date.

Just to let you you know, in-case of any further correspondence my new address is (****)

Please update me on this situation.

    Thanks,"

Would this suffice? I imagined a phone call wouldn't be any good.

‘Please note, the address for any further correspondence in relation to PCN number xxx, for vehicle registration mark xxx, is now <New Address>.

You must update your records in line with DPA and GDPR requirements and ensure that no further correspondence is sent to the former address of <Former Address>.

Signed with a squiggle (and your name in block capitals after it).

That’s it, no Mr ‘Nice Guy’, it gets you no favours.
