return item help!

Hi all,

So i recently bought a suit in Reiss in which they provide an alteration service (i needed trousers shortened). After a week or so after purchase I picked up the suit yesterday and tried it on at home today - the trousers are almost 6 inches short, they look absolutely ridiculous and not what i wanted (I had them pinned at the line of the top of my shoe) but they don't even cover my ankles.

Am i entitled to get them re-done/refunded?

The suit was very expensive and you can't buy the jacket and trousers separately.

    I'm not entirely sure what your rights are on something that has been altered in terms of a refund, but if they are too short for you then you should be able to get them re-done. I would have thought they would have taken all your measurements before altering the suit? I would suggest requesting that they re-do them and then try the suit on before taking it home next time. If they can't get it right then you shouldn't really be required to keep it. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge on altered items can offer more help.

    hi,

    yes they did take the length measurements (which was at the time what i wanted) so something has gone badly wrong in the meantime and they are not wearable. I could hold my hands up if it were, say, an inch or two too short but they are literally 5-6 inches short

    Just go to the store and speak to them, I'm sure once they see the issue they'll have them redone, or a new pair of trousers altered for you.

    Hi,

    i was hoping so but the suits come as a three-piece and you can't buy trousers separately so was thinking that this may be a problem

    I'm not sure they can add to the length.

    Having made them six inches too short is quite clearly an error on their part. They will have to replace the trousers as there is no way of rectifying the mistake.

    Ok, well if they have made them 5-6 inches shorter than they should have done then it's an error on their part and they have to remedy it. I am unsure how you prove the error, other than checking the measurements they took and comparing it to the current length?

    but my point is, due to the fact that the suits come as a three piece, they are going to be out of pocket by quite a lot due to the price of the suits (and won't be able to do anything with the jacket and waist coat that comes with the replacement trouser)

    i think ill be able to prove the error just by wearing them and saying there's no way in hell i would have requested them to be this short :')

    No, not if they've removed the length rather than just stitching them up. I'm not entirely sure what they do, but obviously if they've removed material then they can't add to it.
