It seems we have good coverage from all the main carriers.0

RE: the amount of data needed will be really small or even zero if the information can be sent back by a SMS too
Yes, I had a similar thought but I think it it would still need the 5 quid per month card even to
send 1 byte.0 -
RE: Vectone.
Sounds promising, thank you.0 -
how about one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tile-Mate-Finder-Anything-Finder-white/dp/B01L3VEC08
you can track it on your phone
ETA - see you have already looked at some tracker devices - just thinking phones can go flat or be switched off etc0 -

Its Bluetooth. No good if the person has left the house....
For a sim - maybe one of the cheap plusnet tariffs, or GiffGaff
Its quite a good idea to be able to ring the person as well as track them.
Of course you need to make sure the phone is on them!0 -
Its Bluetooth. No good if the person has left the house....Activate Community Find: If your Tile Mate is faraway, let other Tile community members help. The Tile app running on their phones can send location updates to your app, letting you know where your Tile Mate is.
Ask others to help, your Tile isn't where you left it? You can anonymously enlist help in the Tile community; with over 5 million Tile devices sold, it is one of the world's largest lost and found network
And I don't believe in combination of Bluetooth + 300ft + 1year battery life of CR2032 ('Pro' version)0 -
@ OP
There may be devices available to you at little or no cost.
Speak to the Social Worker who deals with the person & they should be able to point you in the right direction.
Also have a look here for starters..........

A smartphone even with very limited use will need regular charging.
How are you going to ensure that it's charged when it's needed, and picked back up again when charging is finished?0 -
