If its an old tv without a freeview tuner select whatever input the freeview box is connected to and use the search function on the box.0

OP, as Norman says, you need to set up the freeview box not the TV. If the TV is that old, it will be looking for the analogue tuning which no longer exists. Find which external input the box is connected to, then go through the box set up procedure.0

Many thanks.
I've been using the same TV with the same Freeview box for a couple of years now, I have simply moved house and the box and TV were still connected and packaged and boxed together when moving, and so all that needed to be connected was the aerial to the Freeview box, as they previously were, and to then do the installation from the menu on screen, as there are no buttons on the Freeview box.0 -
I assume that you have the remote for the Freeview box, as you will re-programme it through that.
Do you have the instructions for the Freeview box? If not, you should be able to download these on line.
Finally, are you sure that there is actually an aerial connected to the cable that you are connecting to the Freeview box?0 -
there are no buttons on the Freeview box.
A freeview box will be connected through an auxiliary input. Using the tv controls try selecting each of the inputs in turn.
As you have transported them connected check all the leads are still securely connected.0 -
Try http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/howtoretune/retuning_instructions
There are drop downs lower down where you can select your particular Freeview STB and it should give specific tuning advice for your box.0 -

Thanks for the link. Sadly however, the instruction s only give details for first time installation, whereby when switching on the TV, you are immediately taken to the screen that gives you the option auto scan the channels, I have to use the menu button on theremote control to get to the Installation tab, when I do so these are the only options available to me:-
Programming
- Programme Number
- Programme Name
- Manual Search
- Standard
- Store
- Frequency
- Fine Tuning
- Programme Skip
There are another two tabs, however the only optins they details are Programme Table and A.P.S (which includes the option to change the country and APS).
And I can confirm that aerial and all cables are securely connected.0 -
Ah, some confusion there. I and several other posters didn't realise it was the freeview box you needed help to retune and not the television.
As was asked about the television, is there a make and model number somewhere on the freeview box?0 -
