Bradford and Bingley E saver problems! Anybody else had them?

Dunno Mable, mine sounds similar and been with them for a few years (still, if they don't want/need the cash, sure somebody else will...).0

Since my post of 14/11/07 advising you to avoid B&B due to the inability to log on to an account with them and their inability to answer the phone during their opening times or reply to messages, I managed to eventually log on in early December and transferred my money immediately out of the Bradford and Bingley account. I felt it was unsafe, not being able to access it when you want to. A very unsatisfactory service.
B&B offered me £5 as a 'gesture of goodwill', during the proceedings.
However, I cannot confirm whether of not it was added to the account, as upon transfer of my savings (my deposit plus interest, not necessarily the £5 offered) the account was automatically closed, to date I have received no statement and can no longer access the account online!
I will be contacting them, so thanks for the freephone number.0 -
Hi,
maybe a good tip for others, print off a statement before closing an online account, it may not be up to date, as it will not include closing interest, but you should be able to work out a few days interest.0 -
I opened a Bradford & BIngley saver on Martins rec. but had nothing but problems signing in.
There phones are a nightmare I was kept on hold for 45 minutes each time I rang them and then I was told it was my fault, either my server or my computer. Eventually I was so cross I closed the account I recieved my cash but no statement I dont know how they reach the final figure at all. They are cowboys certainly not a company to put YOUR money into.

I wrote about this yesterday. I attempted to put some money in their one year bond paying 6.8% and have never come across such a messy system before. They messed me about and then in the end, they returned my cheque (for a large amount). They had already returned the identification documents with nothing attached to them to say there was a problem. When the cheque came back they said it was because there was a slight difference in the postcode on the Inland Rev document I had sent and one other. I was furious and have made an official complaint. By contrast, I completed an application on line last Sunday for a similar bond with a bldg society and the pass book was here on Thursday. The bldg society checked my identification etc electronically. You would think that a bank like B & B would be as up to date with their methods.0 -
I have tried to ring them and keep getting cut off, they say they are open until eight i phone at seven fifteen and they are closed.....0

That is very interesting because when I spoke to them yesterday although the direct debit was in place they said I had to make the initial deposit by cheque. Also the advised me this is why I have not received their Welcome back because payment has not be made. However when I applied it asked me how much I wanted them to take and give dd details.
The advisor that is just for marketing purposes. What is she on.
Also I have checked this evening and see nothing to say I would have to submit a cheque. I just assumed I had made the error.
I am a new customer so perhaps that may make a difference.
Just an update. Well I nearly gave up on this account and thought the cheque had been lost in the postal network. However cheque went through my account on the 3.1.08. I rang b+b and confirmed cheque was credited to my account.
I found the whole process very laborious but the rate is good. Perhaps no gain without a certain amount of inconvenience.0 -

B & B do check identification electronically e.g. Passport No., Driving Licence No. etc. I never had to send any identification documentation when opening an account. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Still waiting for my initial cheque to be credited. After checking with them they say they still have no record of having received it yet, but even when they do credit it to account, it still takes around 6 days before I’ll be able to see it. I thought they meant before it was a cleared balance, but they didn’t, they actually meant I wouldn’t be able to see it until around 6 days after they enter it on their system.
After being told by 3 different people that it would take 6 days before I would see it, that is not so. The cheque was finally received by them and I could see it when logging in the next day.0 -
I was torn between B&B & Coventry's 6.4% until I found out B&B DO NOT ACCEPT chaps payments INTO their account, so if you wanted to invest a sizeable sum with B&B you would suffer a hefty loss of interest by having to use eg bacs which takes at least 2 days.0
