Gers, your poor mum, I'll be thinking of her tomorrow. For all the poor publicity the NHS is getting recently they do pull out all the stops in an emergency.
We walked round to the surgery to book a nurse appointment on Monday so that she could do the first injection into Steve's stomach so I can see how it's done. I don't think he fancied me using him as target practice.0 -
Gers, so sorry your Mum has broken her femur.
My dad did this at the age of 90. He made a good recovery after surgery and rehabilitation, I hope your Mum does also.
TA, I'm totally in agreement with you about doing as much as you can while you can. Sadly, we've lost two close family members, one 5 months before he retired, and one just after he retired. Both looking forward to retirement.
OL. hope your Grump gets through his colonoscopy ok - as someone said the 2 days preparation are almost as bad. I've got quite a few chronic health problems, and have had 2 colonoscopies, not the pleasantest is it.0 -
Afternoon all,
Oh no Gers ,your poor Mum and you!Hope her surgery goes well-Hugs
Holly- I hope you enjoy your lunch out
Happy to see you again TA.You're so right about whats round the corner. DSons & I have just been to the funeral of 1 of their friends. He was 33., so sad.I have never seen the crematorium so full. They've just dropped me back at home to wait for the DGC being dropped off after school and they've gone to the wake.
Wmf- if you're reading - it's years since you were advising me about eczema creams for DS
Well I'd better sort some tea out for the children,DGD in particular is always starving when she comes in after school.
Hugs to those in need xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

If there is anyone reading along who is dithering over taking early retirement, just take it as we have no idea what could be waiting round the corner for us.
Love to all xx0 -
Afternoon all.
Late one from me, had a very traumatic night. I woke at 1.30am (premonition?) to find DM lying on the bathroom floor. Long story short...she's broken the head of her right femur! Great service from NHS all round. By some minor miracle A&E was relatively quiet so she was whizzed through a tranche of tests smoothly. She's now tucked up in a hospital bed dosed up with morphine and a nerve block.
Surgery will be done tomorrow- her 91st birthday- to pin the fracture. Meanwhile I'm going back to bed.0 -

Just lost a long post with nothing of any importance in it(!!) so will just wish everyone a happy and peaceful weekend, with special good wishes to Gers and her DM, unlikely to be DMs happiest birthday tomorrow but hopefully she will get to enjoy a piece of cake.

Oh Gers poor mum. Just as well you were there. Best wishes for the op tomorrow.
TA glad to see you back.
Holly hope you had a nice day. Hugs.
We went to ths Mall at Cribbs Causeway today. DH wanted a new dressing gown for his impending hospital stay. We called into the big Asda there and got one he liked. Then we went over to the Mall and had a coffee and did a bit of people watching by the fountain. On our way home we called into Morrison's looking for joggers for Dgs. He is a little 4 and growing out of his 2/3 's now Only found one pair remotely suitable so we got them and picked up a new pair of slippers and a lovely green Spring raincoat. On approval as DD is quite fussy lol.
Came home and made Nana's Magic soup as DD and
Dgs may be coming to lunch tomorrow.
Well hugs to all and thinking of the poorlies and worried. Enjoy your evenibg all."It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world"0 -

Hi everyone
Gers...sorry to hear about your mum. Had a worrying afternoon too as little grand daughter was taken to hospital by ambulance at lunch time. She wouldn't feed and kept being sick all the time...they were seen very quickly and she has just been discharged. Doctor said it was a tummy bug...shes just very vulnerable as she's so small. She was supposed to have her first vaccinations today but they've now been postponed for 2 weeks.
Came home from work to find a dead rabbit on my bedroom floor! I didn't know cats killed rabbits. I also have no idea how he got it through the cat flap!
I had just seen the lad next door come home from work so I knocked and asked him to scoop it up for me. Its now over the fence in the field....I hope cat doesn't bring it back x0
