As above and also after 5 months; I’m not clear how any couple can be ‘partners’

    Really?

I've been there myself, believing you can "change" someone by trying to help them and I learnt the hard way. I would break this off now before you're in a position where your fully supporting him financially, mentally and emotionally and getting zero support in return. I believe a relationship should be a partnership of similar contribution and this sounds like it's fairly one sided. The resentment will only get worse over time.

Agreed - but I was responding to your assertion that a couple can't be 'partners' after 'only' 5 months

    How old is he?

Also if he doesn't have a job what does he live on? Where does he live?

Well it was an opinion, not an assertion.

IE I think people rush into relationship changes; generally speaking.

We got married four months after meeting on a blind date and this year will have been married for 48 years :)

However,I agree the OP's relationship doesn't seem very healthy and he should end it.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • @OP - The way you worded your post makes me think you know what you need/want to do.
