Good question, I expect most who have retired like us, will have obtained their credit cards when they had a 'normal' life0

I believe I was still able to get credit when I lived on a boat; but I had a full time job, I'm not sure if that's what made a difference.0
-
But! I am guessing from your mooring fees your are cc'ing which is also a difference to my situation.0

Yes we are continual cruisers, popping every now and again into a marina when we need to leave the boat somewhere safe.0

That sounds like a wonderful way of life.
Do you only go around the UK or do you go abroad too?
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0 -
Make sure you have someone do a PPI check on MBNA too - I got a fair wedge back out of them.
Not sure how much time there is left for this, though - perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I can advise?0 -
If you have been putting fuel, food and other things on it - you have paid off over £3.5k and all your spending, so not so bad overall.
Stop putting your day to day spending on it. Put that on a debit card - you are paying interest on those purchases for nothing.
Keep chipping away at the debt - you are doing well overall. It is a good life- there's over 3k miles of inland navigation, with a 3mph speed limit. Most of the system was built between the 17 hundreds and the 19th century. It continually blows our minds how fantastic our heritage is.
