With a Claim Issue Date of 20th February, you have until Tuesday 10th March to file an Acknowledgment of Service, but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it. To file an AoS, follow the guidance offered in a Dropbox file linked from post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/64350585#Comment_64350585
About ten minutes work - no thinking required.
Having filed an AoS, you have until 4pm on Tuesday 24th March 2020 to file your Defence.
That's almost four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute.
When you are happy with the content, your Defence could be filed via email as suggested here:
- Print your Defence.
- Sign it and date it.
- Scan the signed document back in and save it as a pdf.
- Send that pdf as an email attachment to CCBCAQ@Justice.gov.uk
- Just put the claim number and the word Defence in the email title, and in the body of the email something like 'Please find my Defence attached'.
- No need to do anything on MCOL, but do check it after a few days to see if the Claim is marked "defence received". If not, chase the CCBC until it is.
After filing your Defence, there is more to do... - Do not be surprised to receive a copy of the Claimant's Directions Questionnaire. Nothing of interest there. Just file it.
- Wait for your own Directions Questionnaire from the CCBC, or download one from the internet - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/form-n180-directions-questionnaire-small-claims-track , and then complete it as described by bargepole in his 'what happens when' post linked from post #2 of the NEWBIES thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/64350585#Comment_64350585
- The completed DQ should be returned by email to the CCBC to the same address and in the same way as your Defence was filed earlier.
- Send a copy of your completed DQ to the Claimant - to their address on your Claim Form.
3 - Print your Defence.

Thank you KeithP,
I have already filed an AoS with a date of Feb 25th and sent it via post to the County Court Business Centre in Northampton.
Do I still have time to request a SAR from CEL? And should I email the request myself?
Again, thank you for your detailed directions.

You should instead have filed the AOS ONLINE, because then you know for sure it has been received. Do you ave a copy of the claim form still? Yes or No.
Of course you can request a SAR from CEL, and yes the emauil comes from you.2 -
Yes absolutely as I posted earlier this morning I have copies and a large bundle of every correspondence, images, etc. Including the Claim Form and Acknowledgement of Service. I sent the AoS via recorded mail. I have a farm in very rural location so I am not used to computers and don't always have a great connection, however, I can look into this option using my phone and mobile data. I did research in view of providing the documents through MCOL but if you look at MCOL Reviews online its not good hence sending by post. Thank you for your help. I will request the SAR asap.

I would suggest you file the AoS again - this time online.
Use this:To file an AoS, follow the guidance offered in a Dropbox file linked from post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/64350585#Comment_64350585
About ten minutes work - no thinking required. No chance of anything getting lost, either by Royal Mail, or what I imagine is a labyrinth of offices at the County Court Business Centre.
Can do no harm, but maybe some good.

All or nearly all the errors we see are not royal mail but occur at the CCBC black hole
Doing the AOS online seems to remove some obstacles and seems more efficient , especially if you get acknowledgement emails2 -
As youve been told, do the AOS Online. It is absolutely 100% fine. THats the ONLY thing you will do online with MCOL, you will after that be using email to file your defence and then your DQ2
-
OK thank you everyone. I will do the AOS online with MCOL. Its good to have so many ears to bend even if things don't go my way, the support you have already given me is humbling. I will keep you up to date...0

I have successfully logged online with MCOL. They have confirmed that my AOS was received on 26/02/2020. I will now email a SAR to CEL and I am writing to my MP too. Getting into this now. Any letters I have previously emailed to them was just ignored and I was sent a Cessation of Correspondence. Time for them to have to do something now. Just to confirm nosferatu1001, after having the AOS confirmed and that's all I do with MCOL, where do I email my defence to?0

Post up what this "cessatoin of correspondence" was. Ive not seen one.
You have not read the newbies thread, as that gives you the email address...2
