  • You still have not shown me an example of a hotel room that is described as a double but contains a single bed-Why would i do that? or answered the question -ok please re-iterate this question so that i can answer for you, are you sure i just havent said what you want me to say and therefore dont think im answering? whether if you did not have the information other than the phrase 'double bedroom' what you would do/ reasonably assume. No i would not assume i would check! whether at a hotel or renting somwhere for 12months you dont asusme over that kind of thing.

I have already agreed with you that I should have checked what furniture came with the house but thanks for making that point again.. stick with it!

I'll post back in time if anyone want's to know what I do and the result!

Well I do... So please keep us (me:D ) posted .
    Thank you.
  • thanks you answered the question! - if you would always check when making a hotel booking that a double room contained enough beds for two people then that is fair enough. I will do the same in future! Doesn't mean the agents advert wasn't misleading though.

I wouldnt say the advert is misleadsing however it is not clear.

The underlying issue was your assumption.

The property did have a double bed in when we viewed it though. This might have belonged to the previous tenants as they had a lot of extra furniture in there. However with other things such as the sofa the agent showing us round the property stated that these did not come with the property. She actually said to refer to the property description as that is what we would get!
if the property description said double bedroom with single bed, then you expect a single bed.

If it just said 'double bedroom' then you're fully justified in assuming it has a double bed.

I'd give Trading Standards a call if I were you - ask them for advice on how to move forward.

Ultimately it will be up to trading standards to decide if the advert is misleading, bearing in mind that 'creating a false impression - even if everything stated in the ad may be literally true' is classified as misleading.

Point is, if the ad had been clear in the first place I wouldn't of had the opportunity to make an assumption.

The point is you should have checked!

as should have the person (agent?) who wrote the description...
My guess is he/she visited the flat, saw double beds in double bedrooms, ASSUMED and went writing this bad description.

aarrrggghh, don't want to enter in this debate :wall: , I'll come back in a few days for the 'results'.
  • The point is you should have checked!

but i didn't! too late now.. you need to get over that!! :rotfl:

My very first question was what do i do now?!

Nobody tells the people claiming back their bank charges they shouldn't have gone overdrawn in the first place. I've taken you point about not checking, but you just keep making it again and again!!!!

What did i ever do to you? You aren't a letting agent are you!
