Renting double/single bed: Where do we stand?

lol- fortunately we signed up for a 12 month contract with no break clause:T
So after we get this sorted we've got a year to be on our best behaviour so they renew our contract.0 -

Hi, yeah we have tried to do this actually but the corridor to the third bedroom is really narrow and has an awkward turn in it so we're trying to work out best way to do it (probably have to dismantle the bed). The beds are also different heights but it's a start!0 -
Just write to the agent saying that the advert clearly states that 2 double beds will be provided and give then 14 days to replace the offending single bed with a double otherwise you will purchase a double bed and put the single bed in storage and deduct your costs from the rent.0

Unless you were specifically told the property came with a double, I don't think you've got a leg to stand on. The onus is on you to ask the questions about things that are important to you.
Try and negotiate with the LL.0 -
the description says "" "two double bedrooms with beds" - it does not say double beds - i absolutely agree with guppy - you should have clarified things before signing the agreement. try and negotiate - but - at the end of the day - buy yourself a bed !0

we didn't think to ask the question as when we viewed the property it had a double in, and to me reading the description it was obvious there would be two doubles and one single! With hindsight it seems obvious that we should have asked the question though :-(
I agree that it doesn't actually say that it will be two double beds but it does look like the agent has set out to deceive. I would argue that in the context of a furnished property a double bedroom is a room with a double bed in it. Otherwise how is it a double bedroom??
Also why didn't they not just write "two double bedrooms, one with double bed and one with single bed" if that was going to be the case?
Trading Standards have advised me that 'misleading advertising' is a criminal offence.0 -

.
Unfortunatley that is not the case, a double room is that of a size that can fit a double bed in. It isnt a single bedroom because it has a single bed in is it?0 -
hmm. I can see the general consensus is against me here. Maybe this is just going to be a case of tough luck!
I had thought that in the context of a furnished property that a double room meant a room with a double bed in... maybe I'm wrong then.
Should i also check next time i book a hotel that my 'double' room contains a double bed??0 -

err- yes it is. Only one person can sleep there at the moment so it's a single bedroom.0
