Thar's 60 mins approx-since switched off from mains.
Difficult to tell if any heating difference from heater.
Electric has used. 1 additional unit of low rate electric to me suggests the heater could be working as expected until 07:30 gmt.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Hi,
well if that's you overnight charge finished for today might as well leave it switched on at mains as it won't start charging again until tonight, though you may want to turn input up tonight, as you have it set at 1.5 it wouldn't take much charge this morning as it still had a fair amount of heat still in it.0 -

As I didn;t get unwanted roasting hot heater and only one unit of night rate electric used.
I have already switched off from mains since 07:27 gmt.
Only decision tonight from 23:30 gmt is to either leave settings 1.5/1.0
Or upto to 3/1.0 as I think lowest settings have negligible difference.
Thanks mser's hopefully heater is working.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Hi,
you don't need to switch it on/off every day at mains, the E7 circuit is controlled by the time switch.0 -
If it was really hot to the touch - way hotter than ever before - there is a fair chance the contacts on the input stat have welded shut or the melted metal build up has bridged the gap, they spark as they open and close - quite a common occurrence. You can clean the points up with a contact file (or a nail board).
Tried lowest setting overnight and very minimum heat when I touched top of only storage heater this morning.
Since trying the suggested 3 input 1 output hopefully to take cold away and maybe it wont be too expensive cost in electricity.
This is different from my old school -switch off at the mains after winter upbringing.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
You may have a 'dual' such as dimplex-duo.
You will know if you have, because you will have 2 separate switches on the wall and 2 separate sets of wire from the switches to the heater.
- What brand heater do you have ?
- Do you have 2 switches ?
- Set output to 0
- Set input to 3
- Leave it switched on at the wall
The overnight stored room heat and water heating hours input is controlled remotely and not under your control, just do what I've said. Colder weather returns this weekend. Best of luck.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. From jk0's earlier kind advice
It's a Dimplex XT. http://www.storageheater.co.uk/dimpex/xl-xt/xt12.html
BTW, you have the output set to maximum, so not surprising it feels hot
Which is why I've since set it lower overnight yesterday and slightly upped the input to almost 3 today and left output to almost 1
I'll re check tomorrow morning.
Just trying to find low cost spring/summer use

Nice ambient heat this morning at least from hall storage heater.
Though I think input could be lowered again very soon when warn weather returns.
2019 1st year of keeping storage heater on from mains all year.
This of course is dependent on charge in electricity bills.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Hi,
so is the 'over heating' heater working as normal now that it's been allowed to cool down a bit?0 -

It is indeed thankfully switching of from mains until next morning seems to be the fix.
Only electric usage to monitor, though my next meter readings cannot be entered until 3rd March.
Maybe I'll take a cost hit from the roasting hot heater day.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0
