ipad updates

Hi all
Not too sure IF this is in right place, but if its not, would somebody sort it for me, thanks.
I have a banking app that has decided it will not work, unless my(old)ipad is updated to 10.3, BUT even after following the instructions, my ipad will not update:mad:
Can somebody/anybody please advise me as to what I should do.........Please, don't say" chuck it in the bin" :rotfl:

What model ipad is it ? If it is that old an ipad that cannot be upgraded to the latest ios then I am afraid your only option is to chuck it in the bin or at least buy a newer one.

You could try deleting the app and try to re-install. Possibly a bit of a long shot but this worked for me with the BBC iPlayer app on my old iPhone 4 which had stopped working and would not update.

Banking apps are probably more fussy about being on recent version though.

The app might need iOS 12 to run which could explain it not installing. What app is it?

Some app developers make it clear that their older versions will continue to run on older devices no longer supported with IOS updates but will not be further updated. That is not usually the case with banking apps. As already stated, either use the website or replace the iPad with a newer model. The old ones are still useful - my daughter uses a 1st Generation iPad Mini mainly as an eBook reader. eMail, Facetime etc. etc. all still work along with many other apps.

You need to be more specific that "cannot update the iPad".
What error messages do you get?
When you go to " software update" are you told you are on the latest version ? What is that?

Older iPads will not update to more recent versions of iOS.

Newer apps require more recent versions of iOS to work.

The only way to get these apps to work is to buy a newer iPad.

Same applies to older iPod Touch models.

As someone said earlier, you can access the bank's online banking via the web browser on the iPad, instead of going through the app.

Banking app are often the slowest to update through iOS beta's
My Nationwide app stops every time until finals iOS version is released.
There's been a few ios12 updates recently via iPad+Iphone.
I'm getting used to reverting to Nationwide webs site until app hopefully starts working again.
Currently have ios122 pb 3 waiting to update (public beta 3) though I opt in to iOS beta updates.
