    Hi Kat

    YEAH! Go for it!!

If you join through a newspaper, or other, ad., then you will be replying to a Sales Leader (who will earn from your orders, but not at your expense). I think if you join via Avon themselves you will be allocated to an Area Manager. I believe there are one or two sales leaders on this forum who would be pleased to sign you up, as I don't think that SL's are restricted as to area.
You will be given an area - how much depends on your AM or SL, although you can give brochures to friends, family, work colleagues etc. no matter where they live. The brochures are £4.76 for the first 15 (3 packs x 5 brochures) then 48p per pack of 5, you will get a few free from your SL to start you off, but after that I find it best to buy enough to go around about half of your total number of houses. You also need to buy some paper bags and carrier bags, although they are dirt cheap! When I deliver my orders, I re-use supermarket carrier bags to contain the order in its paper bag and a new brochure - keeps everything together and dry, and you can write the door number and amount due on the outside of the bag (also makes it easy to carry several orders as you can loop them on your arm).
There is a new brochure (campaign) every 3 weeks, except in Jan & Feb when it's 2 weeks, so 18 campaigns per year.
You need to get orders for £76 before you earn commission, but you then get commission on the whole lot. It's 20% up to £145, rising to 25% if you get orders over that amount (the higher cpommission applies to the whole order in that case).
I'm afraid I've rambled on a bit, but I hope you'll pick something useful out of it!
I'd say, give it a try if you do it for enjoyment and to earn alittle extra money, but don't expect to earn a fortune - as you say, most of us enjoy it most of the time. GOOD LUCK - let us know how you get on ;)

  • hi kat,

i am just about to become a SL and would be happy to discuss this with you, you are probably not in my area so i would have to find out how it works with people who are not local but if i canot do it myself and you still wanted to go ahead i would refer you to a (decent) sl in your area, if you pm me and let me know if you are still interested etc then i would be happy to help, also with the £75 minimum, i dont know anyone who has had to make up there orders or worry about it to be honest, my first campaign had 120 houses and i got £335 in orders, this campaign i had 200 houses and i have 523 in orders this is about avarage for my area and in the run up to christmas there is loads more you can do like parties and other bits and bobs, anyway im rambling on now, let me know if you are still interested and i will give you the details,

sorry , did anyone set up that ebay group mentioned on page 1? if not i am debating doing this myself my feedback is almost at 50 (will be in the next few days) would anyone be interested in joining this if i did do it?

  • hi rachel - what ebay group is that - i am a sl but sell loads on ebay

    good luck with sl
  • hi kat - just read your thread - i think you shouldl do avon - i did phoenix for a bit but gave it up as i was funding phoenix with the money i made from avon - with avon there is no cost for order forms postage etc - you do have to buy books every 3 weeks but if you do friends and ffamily you only relaly need 5 or 10 books so outgoings are minimum - if you order over £76 you get 20% and if you order over £144 you get 25% and that is the amount you get not like phoenix where you then have to take into account tax and postage - it is only £15 to join but you pay that in 2 installments over your first 2 camps and you pay nothing up frot - why dont you ask your local rep to give you 5 books and then youcan see how many orders you get and see if you wnat to join before you sign anything

    Hey all,

quick question if anyone can help. One of my customers has ordered item Extralong lasting Foundation page 32 in brochure 14. This is on the page with items 2 for £8.00. Just had a look at it and it says underneath "excluded from offer" . Would you go round and ask them if they want to change it? or do something else?

    Thanks

i would go round and ask her if she still wants it or if she wants to change it, i would also give her a free gift in with her order for the inconvenience, it shows her you care about her order and increases the likleyhood of her ordering again in the future
