Ooooooh <<raises handbag>> :rotfl: Rigght, well there was a time when I had 4 customers so let's see what we can do about this Buffy. Have you tried (at work) the recommend a friend scheme? How big a place do you work in? Are the unpleasants in work or outside? I must admit I've had more joy at work but then I do work in a hospital.... I shall go off and have a think. Incidentally I have just viewed my on-line invoice - 13 end of line products are "out of stock" - what a surprise  but I'm being sent a "MagiX Face Perfector Trial Size" - what the hell is this? Is this a guinea pig sample or have I just not read my brochure properly (again!)......
On something completely different my daylight bulb in my stitching lamp went AGAIN last night - we've taken to switching it on and off at the wall as we thought it was the lamp switch which was doing something. £10 each they cost  as they're the low energy ones. We've looked on e-bay and can't get them any cheaper so I'm giong to give the "ordinary" daylight bulbs a go. I'm spending a fortune on light bulbs I could spend on cross stitch stuff
Mikki - did you get your brochures? Lisa77 - I haven't even looked yet.... feel the enthusiasm :rotfl:
Right, I'm off to the local library for a mooch...... Oh before I go I am going to throw a curveball in here. Sir Cliff Richard wants another number 1 (he'll be the only person to have got one in every decade since the 50s if he does it) and his new single is being released next month. Now, I'm not normally a Cliff fan (although Christmas is sadly lacking in my opinion without a Cliff in the charts) so I think we should help him. Just thought I'd throw that out there and see how many of you froth at the mouth! Surely anything is better than a lot of the stuff in there at the moment........ (oh, I'm showing my age now :rotfl:!)But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Oh oh oh :j :j Just thought of something Buffy. Get a big bottle of the bubble bath. Tell everyone at work to bring in a lidded container e.g. smll bottle or even a plastic cup and some clingfilm. Give them a sample (about an inch should do it) - I'm yet to meet anyone who doesn't like bubbles and then they'd have a bath with it and hopefully go "ooho this is nice" and might get some! Remember customers are a bit thick when it comes to being able to open their wallets and you have to help them through this difficult process.....But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Right. Whilst I was getting my bread sliced in Greggs (six seeded wholemeal sliced medium- Mr Rage loves it) I thought of the following which I think I might try as well. The bag thing - don't forget to put a label or write on "your bag has been sprayed with ......... by Avon" and put the page number on. For the deal pages - e.g. the 2 for £3 ectc I'm going to put a sticker on saying "beat the credit crunch with Avon" and on Planet Spa when it's on a deal I'm going to put "Planet Spa: Luxury for less". You could also try a loyalty scheme whereby they get a "tick/stamp/any other motif of your choice" on a card for every .... they spend and at the end of of it they can have a free shampoo/shower gel etc. They will lose sight of the fact they are spending..... to get it and if you don't specify which stuff they are getting it's clearance city for them. I also make it easy for people to order by having a set e-mail address for Avon and telling them they can submit on there if they prefer. This also means you get their e-mail addresses and then you can send them a reminder a couple of days before it is due in - then they will look at the brochure again with "OMG I'm going to miss it" buttons being pressed
(and as we all know people can't bear the thought of missing out on things - hence the scrums at the Next sale). Well, there are my thoughts. I'm wasted on this planet I really am :rotfl:

Anyone else get asked to become a body shop consultant via PM? And sympathetically told how it's a shame they're wasting their time with Avon?
Yes because I'm sure if we all tried to sell products for three times the price we're currently selling them for - we'd make a mint! :rotfl:0 -

Oooh no. How sneaky...... but then again that's all parties and we could, if we so desired, do avon parties. I know somebody who did partylite and she said the earnings were fab but it was the hassle of having 2-3 parties a night an always trogging somewhere with her stuff (and the petrol). Plus, TBHQ I can't see with everyone cutting back such parties being able to maintain their frequency. I think we should emphasise the (a) quality of avon products consistenyl - it's a trusted brand for x number of years (b) the convenience (c) the DEALS!!!! "Avon: keeps money in your pocket and your body smelling fresh!". Don't stop me, I'm on a roll :rotfl: :rotfl:But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -

Hi Cozxx
The main problem with returning items is that if you do it via the courier it's free but otherwise you now hae to pay if you want to return via the post office (that's not long come into force). It's fine if you would be able to be in when your order is delivered but otherwise that's where the hassle it. As for making money - well that's a bit of a moot point. If you have a large enough 'round/friends and family base or you can get established at a large works it should be okay - the problem arises if you are getting a territory as sometimes they are not as good as they could be. Unless you're very lucky you're not going to get huge orders from day one and will have to build up your customer base through friends/hairdressers/toddler groups etc. As for the £15 set up fee I'm still to work out what that's for 5 years after the event! But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Hi Cozzx, you won't make a fortune off it but it's worth it for me definetely. I make £40 - £50 every 3wks on average and I "work" the deals and back orders to make sure I get the absolute cheapest prices possible on my own goodies too. I absolutely ADORE my new perfume and it cost me £3.75 for 50ml delivered. Not bad when you think my old one cost me £6.50 for 30ml and I had to walk to Boots to get it!
The £15 start up fee basically covers them for your first lots of brochures, their stationary and the admin it takes to get your account set up. I think this is fair actually compared to the other companies like Body Shop at Home who charge £90 for their starter kit! If they covered the fees themselves then all the people who sign up then change their mine would basically be taking a share of the profits the rest of us work to earn.
We all come on here to whinge and moan but I think in fairness, Avon is worth it for a lot of us - that's why we keep doing it!! I love being able to take my son to work with me. And what other job lets me get my mitts on eyeshadows for £1.50 and shower gels for 75p? (check out the naturals in Camp 14 people - great stocking fillers).
Returns aren't hard, it's just that some people who post on here have to go to work and forget to leave the returns in their specified safe place and others, very lazy people they are, don't get out of bed in time for the courier. Avon will accept pretty much anything back, the problem is remembering to send it back in the first place!!!
Ignore RIE - she's just mad because Avon won't listen to us at the moment and we have a long list of demands. Most of them are quite petty but they're OUR demands damn it. Still no shower gel samples I see? I'm reduced to decanting shower gel into tiny bottles again this year for my holiday humph.0 -
thank you for the advice and i will call someone tomorrow about joining how long does it take to sign up and get started?
