Hi Ironed Out - Sorry I didn't mean to cause offence. I thought PCs were much better supported, treated and communicated with than reps. What are the perks you receive then? Is it worth the slog?

Hi Elle83 - I am one of those stupid reps - lol. But now you have pointed it out to me I will bear it in mind. Thanks for the tip.

Yes I have noticed the numbers on the invoice not matching the customer orders. Not sure why that happens.

I think you'll find that is when an item is in an offer. If you don't qualify for the offer, you get a different number as that reflects the price you've actually paid.

PMSL! So sorry to insult you!! At least you know now

Oh and I know a PC member, the lady I first contact when I signed up (rep for adjoining estate). She used to be a sales leader too but said it was a lot of work for nothing. The only thing she gets from being PC member is the occassional bargain pack from the demo stuff. Other than that she says it's no big deal and not something worth putting yourself out for.

Personally I want those cheap PC packs out of the HT mags still!

Elle83 - No worries, thanks for pointing out the differences between HT and the sales brochures. Don't know if you are a newbie to Avon but you did me a favour. Also thanks for the info about being a PC - I won't be bothered if I don't make it then. I have to decided to treat Avon as a hobby rather than make any kind of money from it - it seems to be a lot of hard work for not a lot of reward...

I must admit I tried the calling cards and got fed up of no response. Why people find it too difficult to ring you I fail to understand! As for Christmas some people are organised and start getting things in the 14 and 15 brochures but most of mine leave it to 17 and 18 - so I have loads of stuff to organise and lug about in the last few weeks before Christmas - cheers :o Hadn't twigged the £1 to us and £1.25 to them deal - nice one! Will have a good nosey through the next campaigns...:D Also looking through the new HT whilst in bed this p.m. (sent home from work poorly - well they can't complain about my being off then can they?) and, stone me, Avon is charging more for larger sized bras - the rotters  This is the first time I've noticed it - they must be all getting in on the act. That's one of my sales lines gone for a burton now....
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

    Hi Everyone
I'm the new girl around here! I've been doing Avon since C15 last year and am loving it. I've just finished reading the whole of this thread and I must say it's a mine of information!
Yes, Elle83, I'd noticed the discrepancy between HT prices and the customer Sales Brochure (the White Chocolate Latte bubble bath being a case in point). I've also noticed that my commission is never quite what Avon say, even though I've collected all the money - probably because of 'fixed discount' items and demo products(?)
It's lovely to be able to 'talk' to other Avon Reps and share ideas and information  .

Glad I'm not the only one - the choc bubbles are different sizes but that is the kind of thing I mean. It drives me up the wall the way they change the prices on clearance stuff every week too. One week the P&K hair mask is 75p, then it's £2, then it's £1.50 - now it's £1 STAR BUY!! It's not a star buy - 75p was a star buy thanks.

I'm not a complete freak by the way - I have a funny memory that absorbs figures

As for demo prices, it's no big deal to wait until they come out in the brochures - it only costs us about 10p more!! They deliberately use the full brochure prices to make comparisons even though we don't actually pay the brochure prices - we pay 75% of them.

So glad to be getting THAT one off my chest...

Anyways, as you did last year, how did you find Christmas? Did you do well out of it?

I was still very new at Christmas last year, so it's difficult to judge; also, they hadn't had a reliable Avon rep for some time. My best campaign to date was c17 (November, I think) which was £481 and my worst was c8 at £140.
It can be exasperating at times though. I recently recanvassed a few of my houses with a brochure and a note with 3 'tick boxes' (basically:- always, Christmas only, or never) - not too complicated! However, with 1 exception, they all came back with none of the boxes ticked  :T
I also had one lady who took offence because I put a note through her door saying that I was sorry I had missed her (ie you forgot to put your brochure out Missis) and that I'd call back tomorrow. She wrote a note saying 'my book was out - please don't leave one in future' I felt like knocking on her door and saying 'I was collecting books with rain dripping down my neck, and I'm only human' (well sometimes ;) ) Fortunately though, most people are great!

Ah-ha - just when you thought it was safe to come out, it's the mad woman again :hello::D

As this thread is 'hints and tips' you might find the following useful:
Having had a nightmare sorting out my first few orders, I bought a plastic presenter book. As soon as I have all the orders in, I put them into the pockets of the book (in door number order)....makes it much easier to see all your orders without bits of paper flying all over the place. It makes it simple to flick through for the smallest ones to pack first.
Also, if you've had the problem of a soggy calling book in wet weather  then you'll know where I'm coming from on this one. I've laminated an A5 sheet (well 2 actually, in an A3 laminator pocket and cut afterwards) with my door numbers and couple of columns to tick. If you use a wax 'chinagraph' pencil, you can mark your brochures delivered or collected, even in a monsoon ;) without that horrible thing of the pen going through the paper. I simply transfer it to my calling book when I get home.
