    I feel really bad now...

Having just spoken to the other rep it looks like she's not to blame here :o

Avon haven't told her she's not the rep for this estate anymore! She's had other reps canvassing her customers over and again all these years and had just assumed they were invading her territory. A few years ago she didn't order for a couple of campaigns due to personal problems but her customers were fine about it. Avon said she was off the round though, then decided later on that no she wasn't. But in the meantime, a new rep appeared on the estate... And several have followed thereafter.

So I reckon Avon must have switched her to F&F without telling her and got a new rep into canvass new customers. That way, loyal customers of the old rep kept ordering from the old rep and the new rep got new customers right? Sneaky b******s. The AM told me previously that this rep is F&F but that's the first she'd heard of it! As far as she was concerned, I was on HER estate.

Her customers have been hers for so many years that we'd be hard pushed to split the roads up. So I've got the name of some roads nearby that she doesn't canvass and I'm going to do those as I know no-one other than her in the area would do them. I'm also going to stick with the houses I've already got and not bother going to anyone who hasn't ordered yet as I'm 3 camps in. She doesn't have a customer list it transpires, she says she just goes on names and buildings because she knows where all her customers are but doesn't keep a list of the house numbers. Fair enough I suppose.

Anyway, hopefully I'll build up a decent customer base spread out across the two estates in a few more campaigns. By the time the AM realises I've got a load of customers on the currently un-repped territory - it'll be too late; I'll just claim they're all my friends ;)

Oh, free gifts all round to boost business though - still using that idea!

Well that's the AM's fault - she should have checked with her when she came back. You shouldn't feel too bad - she's been short changed and so have you.
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

If she were in a position to give you the addresses of all her customers would this mean you would then be free to canvass all the houses she doesn't deal with?
I'm assuming it would and in order to stop this happening she doesn't know the addresses of her customers. Unlikely in my opinion.
But maybe I'm getting the wrong end of the stick.

Oh I thought the same initially, but then she offered to meet up with me and go round so I could make a note of which houses she has on her books. So she was willing to show me all the houses; that to me sounds genuine. I politely declined because dear god I've done enough walking round this estate of late!

I think the best thing to do is to basically sod the territory and wander over the road to get a decent customer base from the two estates mixed together. By the time anyone realises what I've done, it'll be too late to undo it. After all, they'll be my "friends and family" by that point LOL.

I totally agree we both appear to have been short changed. I'm so mad at Avon. But then they don't care do they? If I quit, they'll just get someone else in won't they? No chance. I'm gonna do it my way and start making some decent cash. *humph* (affirmative nod that).

Ok I agree that does sound more genuine. Why don't you ask her to make a note of them over the course of a campaign. This will achive a couple of things, first without any effort on your part you will know all the houses worth trying if you decide to. Second on the off chance this lady gives up you will know all the houses in need of an Avon rep.

That's a good idea. I'm as sceptical as the next person about all this, but at the end of the day - if I feel more positive about where to go from here regardless of whether or not I've been lied to then it's got to be a good thing. I trust none of them when it comes down to it to be honest!! I trust my fellow MSE reps alone on this one.

How's this for a new customer deal anyway?
SPECIAL OFFER – NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY

All new customers who place an Avon order of £10 or more will receive a FREE bath or body gift worth at least £2. If you spend £30 or more you will receive a customised gift basket tailored around the items you order worth at least £7.50. There is no repeat order obligation – Avon products sell themselves.

I already have 9 bath and body items in my stash already (most of which were either free or cost 50p or 75p), plus I ordered 5 of those 50p Surreal body washes with my order tonight for camp 11. I was thinking that I could tailor gift baskets using a mixture of items I have, back ordering special offers and HT numbers. A £30 order is worth £7.50 to me - but we all know I can then come up with a £7.50 gift basket for about £2.50. So I'll still earn £5 plus I'll get a new customer.

    What do we think?
  • Oooh a gift basket - you're spoiling them :D My lot just get the £10 freebie !:rotfl: That said if you want to make a splash and hook them for all their toiletry needs it sounds good! What you need to do as well is make sure that you give them samples of the everyday stuff - shampoo, body washes etc. Perfume is all well and good but your basics will be your repeats. Also flag up the sun creams at the moment - point out that unopened they will keep and so if they're planning a holiday later on in the year they'll already be spreading the cost. If you want to be really "evil" you could also drop into the conversation how you're already getting organised for "that C word that comes at the end of the year"...... You'd be surprised what a panic look that generates as people raalise that they haven't even started getting organised yet and they've got loads to buy...... oh I'm just wicked..... ;) Oh. and if you give them a sample or they try something new ask them how it was - if they liked the sample you could point out an offer in the brochure (that's why I always have the next two brochures in hand so I can see what's coming up) or if they buy something like a face cream and then somebody asks you about it you can say, "well my customers who have bought it have told me..." - they don't know it's only 1!

Definetely. I just had a flick through brochure 11 to see what the offers are and see I can get shampoos and conditioners for 94p each, shower gels and body lotions for 75p each and those 75p lippies from the back cover too. Plus I've already got the 50p shower gels coming as well as my stash. A shampoo, conditioner and shower gel or body lotion would cost me £2.38 - £2.63 but be worth £7.50 to the customer. And I still earn around a fiver commission as well as gaining a new (chuffed) customer. Result! Will let people know how I get on.

In the meantime, apologies for the temporary thread hijacking - as you were lol.
