i dont give them to the customers, i'll prob just pick them and then put a note in with the next brochure saying congratulations to mrs XXX the winner of the goody bag etc that way people know that its genuine. if they do ask i'll give them to them.0
-
Ooh ok, I was thinking you had to give them out to all the customers when they bought them. I might copy you if that is ok and just write a Congratulations message in the next brochure.
I hope the raffle goes ok as it is my first one and everyone else seems not to be charging for the tickets. It is trial and error I think. I was going to do another one for Halloween and then one for Christmas but that might be a bit too many. I do like the idea of doing something different each month though. The next thing I do might be the spend over £15 and receive a free gift.
I have a few items that I should have returned, but have kept hold of, so might just get rid of those this way.0 -
Does anyone know anything about the self employment side of things?ive registered as being self employed and they said i need to keep a record of earnings and expenditure - i understand the earnings side of things as its so they can tax me (grrrr) but why do they need to know expenditure? can i claim any of it back? im confused!!!0
-
I am interested in this too as I have registered today with HM Revenue. I think I am going to be totally baffled with all the paperwork, but at least I am all legal now!!!0
-
I really dont understand any of it! it all seems so complicated. will be good if we can claim back expenses. i must remember to keep reciepts. i just hope that is how it works. if anyone knows anything about it i'd be grateful for any info0
-
im sure you can claim expenses just like any other self employed company. im self employed btw!
i think you could claim back things like petrol mileage, printing costs, if u do raffles etc im sure u could claim the costs of the ticket book. u can also claim a proportion of your internet bill if u order online or use the internet for avon purposes. at the end u may only be making a profit of a few pence or even just breaking even on paper and so paying a teeny weeny amount of tax! woop! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
the hmrc are very helpful. they dont mind u phoning them up with questions, theyre more than willing to help you out if you arent sure. they also run free day courses in book keeping for the self employed which i highly recommend. they'll be able to tell you what you can claim expenses for. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

Excellent thank you very much, it'd be great if i could work it out so i dont have to pay more tax, i already pay about £500+ per month tax in my full time job!! I hate tax men lol0
-
Do you have to register for this tax as I have been given so many conflicting bits of information. They also said to me that you need to be earning over £90 a week for it.0 -
its even possible to make a loss on a few campaigns but the tax man will be a bit funny about it if u make a loss every time! he'll wonder why u bother! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0
