I am looking to open an ISA and the top one acc. to MSE is the IF one. Has anybody got one of these?
I haven't heard of IF before so am a bit wary. Any advice?

You haven't heard of them...? Really?
They're an internet only bank, perfectly fine. They're like First Direct and Egg.0 -
Hi Lokolo,
Really haven't heard of them - I am new to this money saving game!No-body I know has mentioned them either.
As long as they are well known to others!
Thanks for replying,

Hi Princess (haven't said that in a while!)
IF = Intelligent Finance
which is part of Bank of Scotland
which is part of HBOS
which is part of Lloyds Banking Group
43% of which is owned by us
So you already have a stake in IF, but don't expect preferential treatment...
unless you're royaltyWearing my other one today.0 -
well ive just set up a cash isa with IF, seemed like a good choice
did it over the phone and asked them to take cash out of my savings account at Lloyds TSB.
seems very professional over the phone and should receive some paper work in the post to sign and send back.0 -
I've been with IF since 2004, not had any problems with them. MrsBlackCat and I have our joint savings with them (used to have an offset mortgage with them too), and I still have all my non-ISA savings with them (I managed to get the 3.25% ISA at NatWest).
So I think you'll be fine with IF, just keep an eye on the rates, they go through periods of being less competitive from time to time (decent at the moment though!).2009 MFW #199 - OPs / Target: £3800 / £35000 -
Morning all,
I have just seen that Newcastle BS are doing the 5% fixed rate ISA....
I opened a IF ISA last week but have not paid into it yet. Is it possible for me to cancel that ISA and go for the Newcastle one instead, or is it too late if I have signed the papers for IF and sent them back?0 -
-
When did it close, please, it was still on the website an hour or so ago...the 5% ISA that is..
TIA

Apparently, even for an internal transfer, you still have to complete the ISA transfer form. They said I could still try sending one in but didn't guarantee success!! I told them that I could not get through all day.

Think (hope) you are confusing the Bond which has closed with the ISA that hasn't.....
EDIT:
CRAP, you are correct.....
"The 5 Year, 5%, Fixed Rate ISA and Bond (Issue 1) have been withdrawn and are no longer available for further applications. The Society will be launching alternative products on Friday 17th July 2009 and details will be available on our website www.newcastle.co.uk."
MSE popularity strikes again by the looks of it.... my own fault, too slow!0
