last time I moved ISA money away from Abbey it took them 5 weeks, I think the industry accepts 30 days as normal.

I was once told that if the process did not happen in 30 days then it would be cancelled.

Whoever told you that needs to read chapters 4 & 11 of the HMRC guidance notes.

I have just asked both National Counties and M&S if I can transfer funds (£3600) into either of their Cash ISA's. I asked if they could provide an IBAN (International Bank Accont Number) and BIC (Bank Identification Code) number. National counties first did get an IBAN then said they didn't have a BIC and wouldn't accept such a transfer of funds anyway. I would have thought the IBAN could have only existed AFTER I would have opend an account... Anyway! M&S just said they would not accept such a xfer either. Cheque or debit card only.

    What an archaic system...

    Tks,

Barclays Golden ISA - is it variable rate or fixed?

Following Martins advice on best buys for cash ISA's my wife and I opened two new ISA's yesterday 1st June and I thought we would get 3.61% but when I looked on Barclays Websiite I think it says 2.58% now so what rate applies?
    Thanks

If you wish to cancel your Golden ISAs and open new ones with a different provider, because of the rate reduction, you have 14 days in which to do so - see my post #332 in this thread.
  • Hi, I opened my Barclays Golden ISA on 29/5 (thanks to MSE) but it looks like on the Barclays website that those opened before 1/6 should still get the additional 1% bonus for a year on top of the interest rate.
'ISA accounts opened between 9 March 2009 and 31 May 2009 inclusive earn an introductory bonus of 1.00% gross which is not included in the rate quoted above. This bonus is payable for 12 months from the date the account was opened.'
Incidently, I did ask on their webchat site if the new rate includes the 1% bonus and they said it did, but the above implies that this is on top of it. Hopefully it will all become clear when I receive my welcome pack!
    Predicted Net Worth 31/12/2018: -£38,898.03/-£34,616.86
    Target 31/12/2019: -£25,000
    Extra Income 2019: £1,500/£732.38
    Target Weight Loss 2019: -14 LBs/-2.5 LBs

It just means that Golden ISAs opened after the 31st May will not receive the 1% bonus which was included in the 3.61% (variable) rate applicable to accounts opened on or before that date.
