    Hi!

Can someone please help to clarify this for me.
I wanted to transfer my Nationwide ISA into the Natwest -ISA.
I filled in an online "Request to transfer Cash ISA funds to Natwest" form, printed it and handed it to a branch. This was 3 weeks ago. Today, I called and was told a CASH ISA has been opened, not an e-ISA. As I understand it, only the e-ISA accepts transfers in, not CASH ISA. So, does that mean there have been a mistake made and my Nationwide ISA won't get transferred?

    Thanks in advance.

Normally from 6th April, unless a provider accepts advance applications.

    or

3% or 3.1% fixed, and if you do need it, you lose no interest at all rather than two months.

I was talking about fixed terms longer than a year...that first direct one is exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about guarding against...the rate dropping to 0.50% after 1 year.

Natwest have obviously opened the ISA but they should have checked with you first, if you had not made it clear, about which ISA you wanted. As they didn't contact you I would tell them it must be changed to the E-ISA which probably pays more - not sure. You have got me curious now as I don't think the Natwest one is the best on the market, especially if you use the Internet.
When you say you called I am assuming you did call Natwest. I have often complained about the actions of banks and have had a few compensation payouts. Don't just let it go. It shouldn't be too late to get the product you want. It's best to put things in writing.

Pass - I have submitted an advance application for Saffron Building Society's 7% Regular Saver ISA (no longer available) but have yet to receive confirmation of their acceptance.

I was thinking of Barclays or Abbey as I can't be bothered with the hassle of opening one account just to open another. I dread the idea of going into Barclays as the service varies from my 2 local branches. One you have to wait hours and in the other one if you want a leaflet they try and get you to see a personal banker.

BTW Why isn't M and S and Standard Life listed here? As last time they had really good interest.

They are both listed in this post.
  • Hi, I do not currently have an ISA and have savings in other accounts. I would like to know when is the best time to open an ISA. Shall I open one before 6th April 09 so that I can put another £3600 in for the next tax year April 2009/2010?

Also, I want to know if i should open a regular saver ISA or a cash ISA? Which is better? I don't mind putting away £3600 a year and not withdrawing.

Thanks in advance. I am very confused about it all!
