Well Northern Rock have been great, got emails straight away and my accounts were open and accessible almost within hours. I have also received confirmation in the post this morning for both the ISA and savings account I opened. Looks like Santander will be getting a call to cancel when I actually receive any kind of details through from them...0

I would do something to cancel the other ISA as you are only allowed to open one and you have tried to open two. This may cause you problems.0

I think MissMuppett will be ok. It's not the opening accounts that is the problem, it is subscribing to them i.e. putting new money into them. As long as she only puts new money into one of them she'll be fine.
Of course, you can also open and put money into two accounts in a year as long as one is for new money and any other is to receive previous tax year's accrued sums.

I wouldn't even bother to contact them.
I opened an ISA and filled out transfer forms with NatWest on 02/12/09, and that was with the branch manager. After six weeks waiting for the money to be transfered. I went elsewhere. NatWest never contacted me about the transfer but I do get an ISA statement from them every year.
The balance never changes from zero however.:D
There is the possibility that it may be handy at some time in the future to have an ISA with NatWest, so since they're happy to keep it open, so am I.Wearing my other one today.0 -

Asked this in another thread about Northern Rock:For an online application they say:Register for our online services
- Register as a new customer or log in as an existing customer
- Use your log-in details to apply online

Asked this in another thread about Northern Rock:
Does anybody know the answer?
Yes, can't see any problem with registering as a new customer. However, you'll have to prove who you are when you open an account.
Note that saying you posted to a moneysavingexport forum is not sufficient evidence of existance.:DWearing my other one today.0 -
Well my money is now happily sitting in Northern Rock, savings account and an ISA... I got some letters through from Santander a few days ago, in fact none of them mentioned the ISA, they were all about me being a new customer so cash card etc... Maybe I'll leave them open.0
