The A&L Flexible ISA @ 3.2% has disappeared from the best buy list in the Sunday Paper and also from the A&L website. The only ISA they advertise now is the Direct ISA 6 @ 2.75%

It has also gone from Santander's website.

Hi there. I want an instant access ISA. I read the article but I wasn't sure whether the barclays golden rule cash isa is instant access, and it doesn't seem clear on their website.

Does anyone know if it is and whether there are any p[enalties for extracting funds from the account?

Or can anyone recommend a better instant access IA?

    Many thanks

Barclays Golden ISA issue 2 is an instant access account, there are no penalties for withdrawing funds from the account.

My dad has opened the Santander Flexible ISA 2 recently. At least, that's what I told him to do! I'm not sure whether he's opened the right account or not.

He's now been given a cash card for the account and the only paperwork is a print out letter saying 'Thanks for opening a cash ISA' with the receipt for the deposit. Is there any way I can tell if he has opened the right ISA or not? Say, by looking at the first few digits of the account number? Did anyone else who has opened the account receive a cash card?

    Hi,

Getting a Cash Card is quite normal for the ISAs with Santander (I got one!).

Easiest way to check is to ring Santander (or go into a branch) and ask... Else, when I'm logged on to internet banking, my account shows the type (mine is a Flexible ISA (issue 2))

    Hi all,

Quick question: can someone else pay money regularly into my ISA, say by standing order, or can deposits only come from accounts in my name?

Existing current account holders. Guaranteed 2.7% above base rate The flexible cash ISA from Santander and Alliance & Leicester (there's no info on the websites) pays 3.2% (min £1) which guarantees to be 2.7% above base rate for the first year. However, you have to be an existing current account holder and you must go into a branch or phone up to get one.
You also need to put at least £1000 into your current account each month. I went into the branch to open an ISA at this rate and was refused because we only put £700ish into the account each month. I haven't been able to find out anywhere where this is mentioned.

Did they decide you only put £700 in a month? Or did you tell them that figure? Because you could easily tell them you can put in £1k and then just cycle £300 out and back in again couldn't you?

I got the impression this ISA had been pulled as I bookmarked the page on their website but now when I go to it, it just redirects to the other ISAs. Let us know how you get on if you try again as I wanted to apply for this account but gave up after the disappearance from their website.

I have normal savings accounts with ING and they are now doing a special 3% interest deal for existing customers on their ISA. However, I opened a Nationwide 2.75% ISA this month and transferred in £5,278 from my First Direct ISA which had a bad rate. I also have £15000 in a Standard Life 2.65% ISA which I transferred into last year.

Just need to know if by opening a new ING ISA and paying in on a regular basis this then becomes my current ISA and I just leave the cash in the others?

    Thanks

As you've not paid any new money into an ISA in the current tax year, you can open a new ISA wherever you like. Money transferred from one ISA to another makes no difference to the current year's ISA allowance.

There's a standard phrase on every ISA application form (or read out when you open via 'phone) :

    I declare that

    - all subscriptions made, and to be made, belong to me

............ ISA managers aren't required to validate every payment comes from funds owned by you. But they are required to take action if they identify, or even have suspicion, that money is coming other than from your own funds. So setting up payments from someone else's account is likely to cause you a problem
