The Flexible ISA from A&L (I know its the same group) is, according to their website, still available in branch (not online) and it does not state that you have to have their current account. See here: http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/flexible-isa.aspx?cm_mmc=mybank-_-ibh-_-listflexibleisa

I got my statement for my Cash ISA through from Nationwide yesterday, now, I don't have a huge amount in the account, only about £1,500 but the interest was a mere £22 (that's about 1.5% if I've working it out right isn't it?) and obviously I'd like to be earning more than that on it so i'm looking at transferring it. Ideally I'd like to go to one which allows me to transfer and pay new money in just to keep thins simple for me as I'm a bit of a scatter brain when it comes to money sometimes and I want to be able to keep track of things simply.
What would be my best option?
I'm contemplating one of the Natwest E-ISAs as I have my current account with them and a couple of esavings accounts so it be dead simple to set up regular savings and to use my exisiting online banking details etc...though part of me would like something separate to make it slightly more effort to get to the money so I actually end up saving it...0 -

I have applied for this ISA last week. 2 points to note:
- I do not have a current account.
- I applied online and have recieved confirmation that the ISA rate is 3.2% (for 12months)
I applied online in error (didn't pay attention to warning on the website, but its worked out! Maybe amend the info on the website to reflect this? (the chap I spoke to today said it didn't make a difference if I applied online or not).0 -
Yesterday my partner called in to a branch of Santander to pick up an application form for their Flexible ISA 3.2% advertised on their web site and branch window displays. She was told that they were not handing them out as too many were taken by customers who dont apply and the only way to apply was to make an appointment and visit branch.
Today 1st May I went on their web site where it was still advertised so I phoned their customer services. After being passed around I was told that this account had been withdrawn to new customers a week ago. I then phoned Alliance &Leicester as they also advertise a Flexible ISA 3.2% on their web-site - same story (not surprising) that the offer had been withdrawn a week ago!
How on earth can this Group get away with promoting an offer that does not exist? If their promotion made it clear that you must have or take out a current account with them I would not mind but this really is underhand practise.
Do I really want to trust this Group with my money?
End of rant!Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.0 -
Santander Cash ISA
Be warned that if you open an e-isa with Santander you MUST have a mobile phone to use the account. I only found out when I first tried to use my online isa account with them. You need the mobile phone to receive text security messages for online banking. Without it you cannot do anything on line except view the account, and you have to go to the local branch for any transactions. Which in my case is a 50 mile round trip as I dont have a mobile phone as there is no signal where I live. Check it out with Santander before you open an account.0 -
Went in to a santander branch to open an ISA with £5,100. First thing the cashier said was you'll need an appointment. Second thing was you'll need to be an existing customer. I have an Abbey Account and and A & L account but she wanted a santander account.
Very unfriendly and not at all clear.Beep Beep0 -

My dad has opened the Santander Flexible ISA 2 recently. At least, that's what I told him to do! I'm not sure whether he's opened the right account or not.
He's now been given a cash card for the account and the only paperwork is a print out letter saying 'Thanks for opening a cash ISA' with the receipt for the deposit. Is there any way I can tell if he has opened the right ISA or not? Say, by looking at the first few digits of the account number? Did anyone else who has opened the account receive a cash card?0
