I still think it's crazy that Ford is currently a better bank than actual banks.
  • Looks like Santander have pulled the plug on their 2.75% eSaver limited edition already and lowered to 2%.
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

    Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
    Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
    Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
    0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
    Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
    Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing

I take you missed the earlier posts on the closure of issue 1 and opening of issue 2 on Monday and Tuesday then.

Hello, I'm a newbie,  I have 20k (from inheritance) to put somewhere, cash ISA at Lloyds have virtually no interest but I know are tax free. Would I be better off putting in a one year fixed bond? Savings account? Gilt? I realise those options are subject to tax. Thank you (definitely not putting in my pension)
Hi, have a look here and pick one that's suitable for your needs, whether that is instant access or fixed:

    https://moneyfacts.co.uk/savings-accounts/

You won't pay any tax (if basic rate taxpayer) on any of these.

I went back a few pages but obviously not far enough, the thread was diluted with comments unrelated to interest rates.

Tried an alternative current account, still no joy. Funny, reading comments on here Ford Money appears to be an easy account to open and operate.

Really wanted to open account just for the £1 and see where we go forwards.

I opened one for myself a few days ago, and despite my nominated account being with with the same bank as my mother, I didn't encounter any problems (opened quickly, easily etc.), but today for my mum, as detailed, no go...?!

Now opened. Give it another go for you mother.

I agree that this thread, and a few others, have lost the discipline that supports an easy follow of interest rate movements and discussion.

Too much chat around account opening issues with various providers also tends to dominate and hide genuine useful information.

3% with strings for £1 to £10,000 provided you don't make any withdrawals in the month. Interest is only 0.5% if you withdraw during the month.
Not realy instant access but if you operate it by making full withdrawal as soon at begining of month then you will get full 3% for previous month (if you understand me).
    Online only for opening.
    edit- Interest paid monthly
Interesting, it's their (slightly worse) version of Barclays Rainy Day Saver I suppose.  Looks like you need to open another account with them before being able to open this one as well.
