It’s just to confirm all your application details are correct. There’s also a welcome pack. It’s also a security check that you’re at the address you’ve given.ASL1 said:Just re-read the email from Al Rayan when I first opened the account online it says:
What happens next?We will send you a welcome letter in the post; please sign and return any documents contained within it.
I think it must mainly be for a signature specimen.1 -
I noticed it says eSaver Limited Edition (Issue 1).
Issue one expires (if not sold out before) on 1st Nov., handy for the next BoE meeting on 3rd Nov.
I`m assuming then we`ll having issue 2 paying a higher rate.
Do santander automatically increase previous issue`s rates to the new higher one.
Or will everyone have to open yet another account and transfer to it.1 -
Not that I'm aware. Thanks for the heads up. I'll double check shortly. Are you sure they didn't email you a "Change of Details" form to complete & return with ID. Happened to my wife on our joint application. It was attached to the "Your Application is Complete " email with your account details.Mortgage and debt free. Building up savings...0 -
I wouldn't assume anything, it's a variable interest rate & it can go up or down. They may be offering a slightly increased rate now to drive publicity & the issue 2 might be a lower rate.2010 said:I`m assuming then we`ll having issue 2 paying a higher rate.

If I were you I'd sign and send the form back, transfer the £5k in and then withdraw all but £1. If Al Rayan suddenly up their EPR rate to more than 2.75%, which let's face it anything could happen at the minute, you'd be able to transfer your money straight across rather than faffing about with opening a new account again.thedude1234 said:
I received my Al Rayan welcome pack today after opening the account last week. Not sure if I should sign and send the form back or not. I've left a pound in the account but I think the minimum is 5k so not sure if it will get closed? Definitely sticking with Santander as the current market leader.phillw said:
I phoned santander to close my 2.5% regular saver, so I could get the interest early & the agent said that 90% of calls today have been about the eSaver. Closed my 2.5% TSB regular saver too as they won't let you upgrade to the new 3% regular saver (though I figure 3% is going to be a low interest rate soon).Bridlington1 said:
I can imagine Santander security will be very busy at the moment. As they have just launched a market leading account, a heck of a lot of people who only use Santander for the DDs cashback and the occasional regular saver will be suddenly transferring large amounts of money into their accounts.
I wonder how Al Rayan have faired.5 -
Mine is also a joint account which I cannot transfer out of.financialbliss said:Disappointing discussion with Santander security. Third attempt and answered after 1h 15m.
He had no idea why the account was blocked, if or if not it would unblock automatically. Was told to wait for a few days in case a letter arrives and if still having issues, call back. Was apologetic that he couldn't resove my issue though. Let's see if it does auto-unblock overnight. Had funded from Club Lloyds if that helps, plus it's a joint account.
Will wait and see if it fixes itself.0 -
Our joint Santander eSaver is blocked from withdrawing at the moment too0

I tried opening a Santander eSaver yesterday, but this morning I received an email saying they needed to check my identity by means of sending two documents by post, typically a passport photo copy and a photo driving license copy. Has anyone else had this ?
Just wondering how common this is these days. I'm a little disappointed given that a lot of people here have had their account open in minutes it seems.0 -
Don't think I've seen Tipton mentioned. Limited access 2.00% to 2.25% As well as being well behind Santander, the 3 withdrawals per year would put me off. May be of interest to someone though?
