On hold to Santander now. There's a block on my eSaver preventing me withdrawing funds.

On a separte note, I looked at this thread yesterday when we were on page 797 thinking it could get to 800 pages - been some replies over the last 24 hours !

When did you open the account??
Erm, yesterday. eSaver was only available from yesterday. Two different CS agents confirm there's a block on my account. Still on hold (on speaker) dialing though to get this fixed. Gave up after an hour first time. This is second attenpt.
@financialbliss This number might be less painful to get through on: 0800 151 3151 (Santander Security)
This isn't remotely targeted at you as many people on here do it (and I'm sure you're trustworthy!), but people REALLY need to stop calling random numbers given to them by strangers on the internet. I don't doubt this is the real number for Santander security, but it could just as easily be a scammer pretending to be Santander.

I'm surprised how often this happens on here given people seem pretty savvy about avoiding scams otherwise.

    Santander Esaver blocked transfers:

I eventually got through. CS guy dealing with my block says this happens on new accounts & usually gets cleared (by their IT) in 24-48 hours.

It could be a fob off, but if you're not desperate, give it a day or two & you may save yourself a long and boring wait on the phone.
Seems like a sensible anti money laundering measure.

I am insulted by the suggestion I would post a scam phone number.
I suggest you read it properly then.

Though I'm equally disappointed by the apparent lack of very basic internet safety knowledge. (I remember being told this advice way back when I was a child!)

  • Applied for Santander this morning 07 49 two individuals both have accounts on record with them , had auto acknowledgment and since then nothing so I’m guessing they are now overwhelmed, or they don’t like us !

I applied around lunch time, got the "we'll contact you within three days" & got an email back in 45 minutes. I must be lucky as I can transfer money out of my esaver as well.
Have you checked the app to see if it's open?
  • Thanks , I haven’t checked the app only the web page log in , will look .

Does anyone know if it's possible to have a direct debit collected from a Santander esaver account?
If anyone else is interested in this, I've just been on the phone to customer support and they confirm that you can.

Just short of 1 hour to get through to Santander security dept.

Block should be removed automatically tonight. He thought maybe it was manually put on for due diligence because of it being a joint a/c. When applying online, my details were auto filled in but I had to manually add some for my wife (DOB, etc).

Sounds like a fob off. I opened my esaver account yesterday and this morning set up a new payee as a test and sent £1 to my HSBC account without any errors
