just opened Al rayan everyday saver issue 3, was straightforward application, on the final confirmation page (step 5 of 5), you have to click on the method of initial deposit, it will then reveal your account no.
downloaded the app, went thru the registration to set up userid, password, pin. I had to provide my driving license pic and a selfie which was a breeze. Logged into the app with biometric and had my account there although balance was zero

I am now going to put in a test payment of 1£
Only because you selected the first option did you have to go through the bother of submitting photo's. None of that's required if you select the second option.

As others have mentioned previously, I've sent my £1 initial test payment 2 hours ago. Nothing happening insofar, probably be Monday before it shows in my Al Rayan account I suspect.
Applied on my computer and I had to print off the application which i have to post to them, think this is just for their records.
On the app, it didn't give me an option, just a Register option which i took
Have sent a £ off, suspect I will know monday if its hit the account.
logging into the app on the phone is biometric, no need to type in user id and password.

Just a note to say to others who may prefer not to use biometric, it doesn't have to be biometric if you'd rather use PIN etc.

What is the option to avoid the selfie and photo id? So I don't mess it up, thanks.
After installing the mobile app you will be asked to register your account, there are only two options, the first is to faff around with Gov approved photo's etc, the second option is to manually input your details, no photo's or doc's involved.
I used the second option, I'm also able to log on without user id or password. I'm using iPhone face recognition.

Annoyingly still waiting to see Charter £5k sent yesterday 16:03. Will not be able to check again until late tonight then away until Wednesday. Would be less frustrating if they would accept a £1 test.
If not there tonight will send secure message asking them to email me the position. My gut feel is that they have been swamped and their transfer process from the holding account is done manually. And that team possibly doesn't work weekends although you'd think they'd plan for a huge volume of new applications when bringing out a new product at a market leading rate.
It could of course be held up by Santander. Unlikely but possible. They even let a £4k payment through the other week without PIN and OTP. Doing a £5k transfer knowing I wouldn't have time to sort any issues was a tad unnerving but these things work virtually all the time.
Anyone else experiencing such a delay? Would be comforting / worrying to know either way. Thanks.

The cut off time for deposits to be credited in Charter is 1pm, so if you sent it yesterday, friday, at 4pm it won't show up until Monday.
  • I'm looking to open a Barclays current account to get the rainy day account.

I don't want to switch bank or any of my large Direct Debits.

Can I just open the Barclays account then add a couple of cheap direct debits to it, such as charity DDs?

I would imagine that would be ok. Just need to join Blue Rewards

That is correct, and just to add when they do receive any money from you, they send an email confirming they have received it.

I sent mine yesterday at 11am and got an email confirming at 13-17 saying:

Good news – we’ve received the money you recently sent to us and have paid it into your account.

Well Barclays with it's complicated charge £5 and get it back if you jump through hoops (2 x DDs & pay in £800 pm) will get them no more than a slot in the footnotes of ToTP... and if the rubbish offer that has persisted for years means you'd abandoned it & haven't got access now, you'll be impressed with the hoops you need to jump through to even access, er.., the hoops you need to jump through...
Yes, it's probably not worth the effort for new customers (and hence only worthy of a mention rather than full inclusion on the list) but it's pretty-much a no-brainer for a Barclays current account holder like myself, who already uses their account for direct debits. Rejoining the Blue Rewards scheme and opening a Rainy Day Saver took around 2 minutes in total via online banking.

Yes I'd abolutely agree with that.

And for those who are starting out on the savings journey 5% on £5k must be worth the effort.

I went to login to open it.. cards out of date, not been renewed; app had ceased to work, wanted defunct card info., online was as bad.
Was left considering a long frustrating call when I'm already month end busy, when I decided I don't need it that badly.

And I'm pretty sure something near & easy will be along shortly...
Barclays Rainy Day saver & Blue Rewards:

@KaMelo February when I dumped the cost neutral with hoops 'incentive'.

After the initial frustration, I decided the 5% was too good to miss.
Spent 40 mins on a call, app uninstall, reinstall plus lots of verification codes.. and got back on app.

Think it's fairly quick if you're phone savvy enough to be on the phone at the same time as doing it (so maybe took longer for me...lol) once you get through after c 15 mins on hold music.

And I remembered to order replacement DC at the last min.

Just need to sort some DDs and activate Blue Rewards and open savings ac.

Anyone remember if you can use 2 DDs to the same company?
