Thats reassuring, I have had a call from them before after having a transaction blocked, I assumed it would be seen by the UK call centre staff. Fingers crossed 🤞 . Its quite concerning to have £30,000 lost into no where!

Also I noted when googling that hsbc have a £25,000 a day transfer limit? Could this be the issue? As I sent 2 transfers totalling 30k
It is one reason I have been meaning to move away from First Direct.

Maybe higher value transactions are the ones that get flagged, but there isn't a daily transfer limit as such (you can do any amount over the phone) even above their online limits.
Thank you and to the others who took the time to respond to me last few posts.

After a stressful morning and a second call to first direct I turned out you was exactly correct. The fraus team had blocked it.

I planned to have a good moan about it but as the call centre staff there all seem so nice and friendly and due to my relief I didn't have the heart to!

You're very welcome.  That is a major downside of First Direct.  Their offshore fraud team who for whatever reason work indepentently from the rest of the First Direct call centre.

You should put in a complaint - The only way they might sort things out.

Anyone have experience moving 10k+ sums to zopa. Did 2 transfers this morning and neither are showing up. My test transfer yesterday was there in about 10 minutes.
Hi Sg28, Did you get this resolved in the end? I am having similar problem. £1 transaction appeared  from First Direct to Zopa within 40 mins but 2 subsequent  larger transactions not arrived 3 hours later.

Ok, as Atom are failing to keep up , I'm ;looking at the next best thing to move to.
I've already got maxxed up in Zopa and Sherbrook and Virgin Money is only 25k max so not suitable for my remaining 60K
not keen on Sharia accounts but  looking at GateHouse at 1.80% -
Tried  a search here but few recent review threads so has anyone used them/had nay experience with GateHouse here?
i've got their Easy Access account... I paid in another £1k yesterday around 11am and it was in there an hour or two later (can't remember if i got notification, so don't have an exact timing). if you deposit before 1pm, then it should appear same day... after 1pm, it's next day... I can't give you my experience of withdrawing from Gatehouse as I haven't done that yet.
if you want to go down the Sharia route, then in addition to Gatehouse @ 1.80%, there is also Al Rayan... deposits are faster with them, but again, have not made a withdrawal from them yet.
not to go off-topic, but if you can put your 60k away without needing it for 3 months, Allica have a 95-day notice account paying 2.20% (£10k)... depositing with them is very fast in my experience (minutes), but you get no notification of a deposit (SMS, email, app etc - they plan to do this in the future), so you would need to check the balance in the site/app... to give them notice, you call or send them a secure message.
Had Gatehouse easy access account. Took 24 hours to get money transferred from a withdrawal. No good to me so closed the account and moved it to my Zopa Account

that's good to know... the 24-hr delay wouldn't necessarily bother me, though it would be really useful if Moneyfacts (or some other site) mentioned withdrawals time for each bank... i've got other accounts I could use if I were in a hurry for funds, so i'll make a mental note that Gatehouse won't be one of them!

Hi, yes see above, it was blocked by first direct. However the first call I made to them they told me the transaction had actually been made. So checked with Zopa, waited a few hours and went back to FD.

Its been unblocked now and should be in Zopa by the end of the day I was told. (Not there yet)

  • Thanks @Sg28 I might give FD a ring...if they don't ring me first!

Thanks for this. My Legacy Cash ISA rate has increased to 1.4%. I was looking for a new home for it but will leave it for now

with all this blocking and whatnot, the sooner they introduce a savings account switch service like a current account or ISA switch service the better

Why? The CASS takes at least seven days to complete, even with blocked payments you will do it yourself much faster.
Let's not forget the reasons why blocking is happening more often, people who live under a rock thus never heard "we will never ask you to move money to a safe account"

Cash ISA switches often don't take that long and often you get the new interest from the application date

Beats having to fight your <insert bank name here> 's fraud team and 10k limits on FP and typos in the new account number

Anyway it won't happen so no worries
