Cynergy Bank has added a new issue of the Online Easy Access account with 1.1% interest. Time for the weekly/fortnightly fasttrack apply and transfer and close (if you haven't already left the boat entirely for Chase 1.5%)

Their public page hasn't yet updated, but the fasttrack apply has the new rate.
My Cynergy online banking is starting to look like Virgin money with a graveyard of closed accounts with a £0.00 balance…..

But then got an email saying the new account was opened and please to pay in some money so got very excited as I thought I could get my record down to seven days......but hopes dashed when the account was nowhere to be seen when I logged on!
The dilemma - do I go to bed or do I wait.........

I had this too, took 20 minutes after the email to be visible.

Yabba dabba doo! All is good and my record is down to seven days. Off to bed, to sleep, perchance, to dream
  • Hi, I have IPhone SE2020 (IOS 15.4) and tried all the methods suggested by the Chase help desk while the very helpful young person (pensioner so everyone is young) was on line.
Tried to close log out a number of times today.
May be it is my phone.
Thank you for your comments appreciated as it could be my phone.

I have two Internet Savers at the moment due to this approach but haven't closed the old one yet as this can only be done over the phone :)
When I last closed a Tesco savings account via telephone, they were very keen to say that it can now be done via pdf and there was no need to call them.

    https://yourcommunity.tescobank.com/content/4314-How-do-I-close-my-Internet-Saver-Account-online

The problem I have had with Tesco Bank savings accounts in the past is:
1 not only that they could only be closed by making a telephone call, but
2 That after closing the account they sent me an email stating that the closing statement was available to view online. However, that was a lie because it was not viewable online and, instead, they insisted on always sending the closing statement by medieval paper/post. Since I have my accounts set as operated paperlessly, I'm unhappy with receiving paper statements.
So my question to you is: given that now we appear to be able to close an account online, have they moved fully into the 21st century and made a closing statement available online or are they still operating the medieval paper/post method?

  • I closed one of my Instant Savers with Tesco Bank, through the complete a form and send it to us method, and received a paper closing statement.

The closed account statement was not viewable online for me. Or at least not through the app. Must admit, I never checked online banking itself as rarely use TB online banking, just the app.
