But their application form is allergic to my PC, so I've never managed to open a second account to find out whether they enforce it."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. Why is this account not mentioned in Martin's Instant Access Savings page? It gives 2.35, (incl 0.7 bonus,) and has unlimited withdrawals0

I don't know why Martin hasn't mentioned it.
However, I notice a deposit by debit card takes 2 days to show up and 9 days by bank transfer. I hope this is just for initial deposit, and once the account is up and running it will be instant transfers.Thank you for reading this message.0 -

Under my mattress? :rotfl:
Sorry I am not being helpful. There really isn't much around to gain any interest. You will do marginally better for locked away, and you will do better than most as a non-taxpayer.
See what other say.Thank you for reading this message.0 -
You can do
- £20Kish in a Santander 123
- £15K in Lloyds Vantage (3 accounts)
- £15K in BoS Vantage (again, 3 accounts)
NB. Do you really need instant access to £50K? You might get a bit more if you can afford to lock some of it away for a year or so.0 -
Thanks for your replies. Can lock away £50 for max.1 year. Any further advice.0

You'll be hard pushed to find anything that pays more than 3% on a 12 month fix.
If you have the time and inclination, you could play about with drip-feeding Regular Savers - that way you can squeeze out a few more pennies though it could get tedious because the amount you can deposit is limited.
A list of best Reg Savers is in the first post of this thread
