Each step with Ulster Bank seems ballsachingly slow. Beehive use the same process and my account was opened within 30 mins of the application being submitted. UB are still navel gazing....

For those that have one, Tesco Internet Saver now 4.75%, includes a 3.50% bonus
Thanks for spotting this. To be clear, existing accounts (the most recent previously available) are still getting 4.5% but if you open a new account you get the 4.75% and can transfer any balances from the old account to the new account.

The best thing to do with old Tesco Internet Savers is to close them - they never increase the rates on old issues, IIRC.

I phoned up last year to close a couple I still had knocking around (from when their rates were pretty competitive at the end of 2021/early 2022), got through to someone straight away and the balance (including any interest due) was transferred to another account while I was on the phone. Alternatively, if you don't want to ring then you can reduce the balance to zero yourself and close the account using an online form.

Yes, it's well down the list now. I've left £1 in.

I heard today from YBS that they are launching a new easy access loyalty saver at 5.1% from tomorrow (Wednesday). It allows 3 withdrawal a year.
Imho 5.1% is a rather disappointing rate for a YBS "loyalty" product given interest rates from others

This is a good sign. Even though the base rate wasn't raised last month, savings providers are still keen to attract savers with new accounts and increased rates. Although the above mentioned account is below the top rate at the moment, it should still be popular.
