I have had no further contact from Santander except for it's now showing by deposit of £5000 half hour later.0 -

I've moved most of my funds to Santander today but left the account open.
Today I received a bonus payment direct to my linked account. It's not the monthly interest so I can't work out what it is as I've not had that in previous months or paid direct to my linked account.
Any ideas??
Possibly. A while back Chip were offering joining bonus' if you deposited and kept varying amounts in your account for 6 months, I think.granta said:CHIP

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think it can be that as I didn't opt in as knew it would be likely a better rate would come along.Steve_xx said:granta said:CHIP

Also odd that it was paid direct to my linked account when I didn't request it!0 -
You likely did (unknowingly) request it.granta said:

It is a hangover from when Chip was paying a "bonus" instead of "interest". If you check your records you'll see the amount you initially received in the linked account when you withdrew was less than what you requested. This bonus will make up the difference.1 -

I got the same message after applying around 9pm. I usually get that message when applying for a Santander account, then account is open in minutes followed by confirmation emails but, so far I haven't received any emails for this one and still no new account visible on online banking...

When the wife and I applied for ours yesterday from within the app, we just got a congratulations message at the end of the application to say that the account is open and it immediately appeared in the app.tiger70 said:

I must admit I started to apply from the website and then thought that it might be simpler if I do it from online banking. I've previously found this to be true of Nationwide and at least they invite you to apply from online banking.
It makes sense as Santander have your details and security clearance to enable a swift acceptance and opening, otherwise they treat you as a new customer initially and later marry your details.1 -
Yes my account was up and running within 10 mins.MikeJXE said:

I have had no further contact from Santander except for it's now showing by deposit of £5000 half hour later.I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
I looked from within my login portal and couldn't see anywhere to apply so did it via the website instead while I was still logged on. It maybe took me an extra minute or so to type in my details and address but was still opened in seconds. I'll make sure to look harder in the portal next timedealyboy said:Stargunner said:

I have a panel on the right hand side that says 'Apply Online'. Savings is the second option in the list of 9 options.Swipe said:
