Great rate from Santander but I'm scarred by their overzealousness when it comes to blocking transfers out of the account so I'll be giving it a miss.

I have the Santander regular saver which is a fixed 5%. I'll now reduce the balance to £1 but not close it and move the rest into the easy access account.
Why bother even leaving £1 in there?
I was thinking of doing this so that I don't get the interest paid until the next tax year, but it would only be minimal so I might close it completely and be done with it

Anyone know what date Tandem pays monthly interest?
Probably on the day of the month you opened the account, that's how most do it.

If you’re with Santander already apply via app in seconds without having to fill all the details again.

Agree with comments above if you have big amounts and think you’ll be transferring in and out then their “fraud” team are extremely annoying to deal with with hour(s) wait times if payment is blocked.

    Typical.

I'd just moved my EA money to Shawbrook!!!

Ho hum.   Santander opened, I'll just have to shift it back again.

And empty the 5% Reg Savers.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

What are the Santander daily limits.
I would rather be safe with their fraud team than lose it to a scam.
I don`t believe people move large amounts in and out like a yo-yo.
At 5.2%, we must be getting near the top now.
BoE expected (so-called experts) maybe two more 25 bp by end of the year.

The likes of Marcus is withering at 4.3%, obviously don`t want savers.

Also the Barclays Rainy Day Saver for those who still have funds in it.

No point really. Rainy Day Saver is 5.12% so very similar unless you have a very significant sum saved. I do wonder whether Barclays will do something with this account soon as it’s been at this rate for nearly a year. Great back then but looking shabby now.

Santander limited edition easy access - 5.20% (for 12 months)...

    https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/savings-and-investments/savings/easy-access-saver

Only available until 17th September, or sooner if it sells out.
    Great rate!

However, after my last experience with Santander (when they launched their market leading (at the time)) I won't be opening an account with them this time.

It is all very well it being described as "easy access", but my experience of trying to withdraw my money (back into the same current account that funded the savings account) resulted in hours of repeated phone calls when Santander consistently locked and blocked access to the savings account. One time, I was on hold for 40 minutes waiting to speak to an "advisor" only to then be connected and immediately cut off by them. The old adage "time is money" is critical for me here.

I hope that ~12 months on that Santander have improved their systems for those who do partake in this undoubtedly great, marketing leading rate!

I have been a Santander customer for over a decade and I can cope with their occasional, annoying, blocking of payments.

If you are new to Santander, and/or have no other accounts with them, I agree, it might not be the best place for savings that you want to regularly shift larger sums about. You might be better served at the likes of Chip or Tandem - though you can always be caught by random fraud checks.
I have had no problems with the Limited Edition (Issue 1) now referred to as 'Easy Access Saver' and have been using it as my 'hub'. I have been regularly using it to transfer funds around (mostly 100s but sometimes 1000s) and the only slight hold up has been the occasional 2FA. I expect the same from my new easy access saver.
