i can’t find the ‘default’ pin for my phone anywhere!!

Vodafone for me was 0000

It was probably on the box or documentation

Just Google <provider> sim unlock code or similar

That is because uou are googling it for the manufacturer of uour phone and as previously stated you should be googling it for your network provider
