The problem may be that they've got a lot of old documents lying around that may or may not still be valid and don't make it sufficiently clear to which accounts they relate.Wheres_My_Cashback said:
Been with Cynergy since they took over Bank of Cyprus UK, 2017/18 ?Rollinghome said:janusdesign said:aaj123 said:What do people feel about Oxbury vs Shawbrook for the 4.8%. The latter has only 'next day withdrawals'.FWIW, my preference for the 4.8%+ accounts would be...- Cynergy
- Oxbury
- Shawbrook
i'm not planning on moving any more into my Shawbrook account because of this recent rate rise.A bugbear for me with Cynergy was that they had a withdrawal limit of just £10k. So, if that's still the case, and it might have improved, becomes a major operation if you've £85k to pull out or want a decent sum urgently. That aside, as Cynergy is annual interest and Oxbury monthly, by a small margin, I'd prefer Cynergy for reasons discussed (at enormous length) earlier in this topic.
There has never been a £10K restriction on movement in that time
Over the years I would have moved in excess of £10K dozens of times without hitch.See post by BestSeagull : https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/80241878/#Comment_80241878Which says
Q. What are the online limits?
The standard daily user limit for Personal users is £10,000 (subject to available funds).
The standard daily user limit for Business users is £50,000 (subject to available funds).
Please call Customer Service if you have any queries about limits on Online Banking. And is presumably referring to current accounts?
I used them up until a few years back when they managed to forget to action a next day withdrawal, and then forgot again after I called them. Took several days in the end. Very nice staff etc, but a little disorganised.
Thought I'd give them another try. I assume you've found them ok?

Charter have increased everything up to Issue 41 only. Funny that, they said they would increase all ‘no longer on sale’ accounts.mebu60 said:
Excellently timed post, thank you. Was about to cull Ford into Aldermore. That fate may now fall on Skipton. Unless my Charter Issue 42 is still showing 4.55% tomorrow rather than the 4.8% I was expecting it to become today.FindingBBob said:Ford Money keep chugging away - going to 4.75% next Thursday according to their twitter/X

So decided to start moving my savings from Ford to Shawbrook account on the same day both decide to announce increased rates.
Nice problem to have , so i shouldnt complain1 -
So I registered from home where I get an sms signal. If I didn’t then Wi-Fi would in my experience still be enough via Wi-Fi call which if phone/network support should allow you to receive sms over Wi-Fi. I’ve done this previously on EE and iPhone X, so it’s possible, could potentially depend on handset and network though.uptdale said:Catplan said:
Hmm I think that depends on definition of mobile phone signal. I use an iPad that doesn’t have cellular / sim to administer this account. I’ve just removed the sim from phone and connected phone via wifi and can access. It is of course app only, but if you mean a 3,4 or 5G signal is required that’s not my experience, as long as the device can run the app and has internet access it works for me.uptdale said:
Shame you can't open or operate it online without a mobile phone signal (Beehive has just confirmed that to me by chat). Another one off the list for me!SaveTheEuro said:Beehive Bonus Saver now paying 4.8%. Includes a 2.15% bonus until 31 August 2024. Minimum £1,000.
https://www.beehivemoney.co.uk/savings/easy-access/Interesting. The link took me to a page which gave me the option of downloading the app or "open an account online", and as I was on my laptop I went for that. I couldn't see anything to say it was app only. Got a code to verify my email, then it asked for my mobile to send a code to verify my mobile number. That was the problem - without a mobile phone signal I can't get an SMS. In the chat I asked if I went somewhere with a signal to open the account, could I then operate the account at home without a signal? She said no, because you needed to receive an SMS to withdraw money and operate the account.I've just downloaded the app and tried to register that way, but hit the same problem. Were you able to register and open the account without receiving an SMS?
I have 3 accounts and have just managed to withdraw £10 using sms over Wi-Fi. On the iPhone I put it into flight mode then enabled WiFi, not sure how relevant that is to you? Incidentally that’s my first withdrawal from them, 5 digit code arrived in a timely manner. Although processing won’t happen until the next working day.0 -

Some mobile providers offer a widget for wifi calling and texting (at a price) and some don't (mine doesn't). There are 40 or 50 of us in our not-spot and some of my neighbours pay for it - mostly people who travel daily outside the not spot and so use their mobiles for calling and texting a lot. I don't and for me it's not worth the cost. I have an app (Voxist) for getting voicemail to my mobile, but it does not work for texts. Most banks now offer an alternative to SMS for OTPs (voice call to landline or push notification to an app) or give you a widget for 2FA. Beehive seems to be one of the few that don't - others I know of are Principality, Oak North, Investec and Close Brothers. Plenty of other banks and building societies available.

How are you guys unable to get a mobile signal at home? if you can’t with a particular network have you tried other networks.uptdale said:Catplan said:

In our case it's because we live out in the sticks. We get a very variable and very weak Vodaphone signal in one corner of one bedroom and a slightly more reliable O2 signal on one corner of the kitchen (at the opposite end of the house) and that's it. Both of those signals will only do voice and text - no "G" of any type. The other networks just don't reach here. A few years ago someone tried to put up a new mast closer to us and a local campaign squashed it because we're in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The mast would not have been visible from any property and, I think, they were even going to disguise it to look more like a tree.Stargunner said:How are you guys unable to get a mobile signal at home? if you can’t with a particular network have you tried other networks.1 -

Assuming you have internet access, have you tried using WiFi Calling?boingy said:

I've sent SMS that way but I've never got it to work for receiving SMS.gt94sss2 said:

I usually just put the phone in the corner of the kitchen a few minutes before I need to receive an SMS so it can, um, get comfortable. Voice calls are all on a conventional phone connected to an ATA adapter (=VoIP), which works fine.1
