Hey
First time poster.
Getting towards the ISA limit and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a decent savings account.
Been looking at AA, santander, and various others within the paper, and i am loking for one that has easy transfer online from other accounts and also that may provide a card for an online aco!!!! and easy access, but more importantly...good rates
santander esaver is 2.75 and also comes with a cash card so you can pay money/ cheques in and take cash out via atms0 -

Tesco savings uses Faster Payments both in and out so you can move cash online to/from your current account instantly (depending who your c/a is with!). Pays 2.6% for 1st year0 -
The AA account will not allow applications from under 18's. Any other suggestions for putting a £20K legacy away for a 16 year old? I was looking for something for up to a couple of years hoping that the rates will go up at some stage. I (she) was going to put it in a tax free NS&I bond but these were withdrawn before the solicitors payed out. She has a bank account with a debit card but no cheque book. The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

Simple to get round, get 2 or more accounts and pass £1k from 1 to the other.
I opened three Classic with Vantage each £7k but on the final one I was worried that I might have done the Standing Order to the wrong account so I just phoned them and they are putting it right for me i.e. so that each a/c gets £1k each month. They don't seem concerned that these accounts are being used in this way, just glad to have the funds I suppose.0 -
Payments outwards do not yet go via Faster Payments, so they take two working days.
I find they take 4 working days to get money out. eg. I arranged a withdrawal on Sunday 19th September. The initial screen told me the transfer wouldn't leave until the 20th, the confirmation screen then decided to change it to the 21st! It the arrived in Lloyds on Thursday 23rd.
Before opening the AA account, I checked the sort code against the Faster Payments checker, got a full 5 green ticks, so I foolishly assumed that this would mean that transfers in & out would be more or less instant. Not so I'm afraid. Result - I'm now keeping far less money in the AA than I would have, as I also realised I could open more than one Lloyds Vantage. Even better!
I'd like to see a definitive list of which savings accounts support Faster Payments both In & Out, as this can make a fair bit of difference to the interest paid. How about it Martin!? (Apologies if there's one already!)0 -

How odd ... I always find that if I initiate a withdrawal before 3.30pm, it'll just take two working days to reach my Halifax account (and an extra day if done after 3.30).0 -
I thought it may be as it was quite a large amount, but I spoke to them to query it, and the girl I spoke to confirmed 'it takes 3 days, but it won't show in your account 'til the 4th day'!!!! No mention of the amount. Didn't make much sense to me, but there you have it.
I'd like to see the ombudsman or whoever force them all to use faster payments.0 -

I spent 4 years in USA and the easiest thing to do i think for him, even if it is for only a few months is probably set up a bank account out there, and then write a cheque and jsut put his money in the new account so he can access it anytime anywhere whilst he is abroad?
just an idea for you0 -

Not sure if you've read the latest: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money
Halifax Clarity looks good to me from a quick look?
On my AA Faster payments issue, I'm now opening a NatWest a/c. I've been (more or less) assured by web chat with them that it supports FP in & out. I'll let you know!0
