I'm probably over thinking this, but...

Will it be OK to credit an Amazon voucher to my Amazon account, where technically the voucher is DH's??? This usually works with e-vouchers he gets from surveys etc. Are these Santander ones the same? Can Amazon tell in whose name the voucher is issued, as their website says that vouchers aren't transferable.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

My lovely sister put both of hers on my mum’s account no problem at all.

For clarity, they are not transferable once they have been applied to your balance on the Amazon website/app - up to that point they are simply a voucher code and can transfer to whoever you like (whether issued/sold to you or not).

Am I also right in that the vouchers are valid for 10 years, whether uploaded or not.

From a security point of view, are you better to not redeem them, until you need the credit. Just keep them somewhere safe.

That's correct. They will of course lose purchasing power through inflation if you keep them for years and years

As I am sure I will use the vouchers myself, and as my Amazon account has 2-factor login, I am quite happy that the absolute safest place to keep them is my Amazon account. That way, I also don't need to remember that I have the vouchers - Amazon will give me the option with every purchase to pay from the voucher balance.

As the vouchers are not transferrable why do some people think we need 2 factor log in to protect them?

I'd always redeem the voucher codes as soon as possible, to my properly secured Amazon account. In my view, there is a greater risk of the code being compromised than my Amazon account.

There is a risk someone could take over your Amazon account if not properly secured.

Just thinking outside the box here...

If your Amazon account was closed by them for some reason, you could lose your credit.

If you haven't uploaded the vouchers, they could still be used by someone else, say as a gift.
