Have decided that today is going to be read a book day.
Round, my MIL is 85 and does line dancing. I can't keep up at my class.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I've been in bed reading (though WM x 2 and DW x 1 means I haven't been TOTALLY idle). Yesterday I finished a thriller, today I am dashing through Little Girl Lost. I'm so pleased to finally be able to lose myself in a book again - and these are physical books too. I've read some on the kindle, too. Washing on the line.
I'm going to clean the fridge (spillage as bottle of lime juice tipped over) then S&S kitchen.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Huge sigh of relief - I didn't know it was read a book day and I've been desperately trying to get my a*** in gear whilst knowing I have the wrong head on - if the toaster popped at the same time as the kettle boiled this morning I'd have panicked.Obviously in much need of down-time to recharge my batteries.
So thank you Jazee for the heads up xx
I'm thinking of giving line dancing a go - another incentive to clear the living room floor so I can practice in private. But not today.
Today is read a book day :T Jazee said
Right now where's that Gail Honeyman book I started last night ….Rxx

yay! Had genius idea of asking DD if SHE could remove the blown bulb from the fridge whilst it was empty. She's a leftie - neither her brother nor me had managed. She got it out with such ease and looked at me like I was stupid. Spares shop is closed though (shuts at 12 on a Saturday) so a replacement bulb will be bought Monday.

Go Rs Dad -made me smile.
Been out with my ladies cycling club (including a rather nice brunch at a local cafe). Stomach still a little tender but better than yesterday.
Dog blankets out on line, another load in, kitchen has been half halfheartedly cleaned and tidied by the menfolk so needs some attention. Meeting friends for a drink later, very sociable weekend.0 -
Way up noooorth, hotel is lovely, there is a wedding on, plus 3 conferences, the place is packed.
Been to see Grandchildren, they are fine and tucking into the off cuts of the main cake for tomorrow!! Grand dad has been 'helping' to lego, but really wanted to go to pub with Son IL to watch rugby, which is where they are.

(((Hugs))) to mrs-mp - hope the shed contents are not too daunting.
Lovely to hear of line dancing enthusiasts
It's always useful to have a leftie in the family, Valli - I haven't got one, but DS2 is ambidextrous, which is the next best thing :T
Enjoy the christening, Kaz!
I have spent most of today trying to get through to Dr's, phoning 111 in disgust, dealing with emergency ambulance paramedics and keeping an eye on DH in A&E for nearly 6 hours. He has pneumonia yet again! The paramedics were very sceptical that there was much wrong, since the only things that were not textbook normal were DH's variable temperature, his inability to take a deep breath without some pain, and my report of his slight confusion and inability to string a sentence together properly; however, the blood tests showed that his infection markers were at 132 (normal, non-infected, result is 20) Good thing we went to the horse piddle! He has been given ABs intravenously as well as by mouth, and is home again now, but is very washed out. The only place he could have picked up the infection this week is on the heritage railway - and that's the second time that's happened
Rosie was very good and guarded the house well, and it was still tidy when we got homebut my plan to finish tidying my RoD and do some gardening in the sunshine simply evaporated
A question mark also hangs over our planned trip to DGS3's birthday tea tomorrow (an hour's drive from here) but lovely NDN is willing to come and keep my DH company while I go alone. I shall have to ring DS2 later this evening, once the boys are in bed.

(((hugs))) ionafan xx A good thing you were persistent. Get well soon vibes heading through the ether.
I've finished my book! Started it last night and taken full advantage of Jazee's read a book day. I feel better for it - if a little squiffy eyed!
WM x 3 on radiators and airer - so not an entirely unproductive day.

Been to look at a couple of potential rooms (bedsits in effect) with DD. Deposit and some additional charges mean she needs to find £900 for the first month

House still clean. Spent another day doing precious little, as I CBA.
Himself wished to be directed in how to cook A Curry. Would be easier if I did it myself, but I'd just as likely say stuff this and phone for a delivery.
Gave up and made Aloo Mutta by myself, whilst he was still fannying about, left him to create some sort of monstrosity with chicken, lentils and anything else not nailed down. At least I know mine isn't an unholy concoction of Bengali, Kashmiri and Skint University Student Who Doesn't Know What They're Doing. [strike]And his can be made vaguely palatable with the addition of more spices, Tamarind, lemon and Coriander when he's wandered off again.[/strike]
I've also cleared up the utter devastation left in his wake. Thirty seconds. All that was needed was to put utensils in the sink, wipe up the bits of garlic and ginger skins, put the lid on the spice paste and put it back, find and put the tomato puree lid back on and put it in the fridge and get rid of the plastic packaging before it caught light. Maybe not even thirty seconds.
It's going to be great. Or at least half of it is, at any rate.
Serves him right for leaving me to rearrange and clean the kitchen all week; now he can't argue there's no space for me to be in there at the same time.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
