Just thought I would update with the latest, not that there's much to say
Co-op accounts are up and running, internet banking, debit cards received. No PINs yet, but sure they'll come this week some time. Am well impressed with the Co-op I must say, it didn't take long at all; sort codes and account numbers within a week and we got the debit cards a couple of days after that. After hearing some of the reports on here about how some people have had to wait for ages I was pretty concerned. The only small negative thing I'd say about them is the fact that the internet banking is quite slow to update transactions, so if you weren't keeping your own tally of incomings and outgoings it would be easy to think you'd more money in there than you actually had and risk going OD or have DDs bounce etc....
Things have gone pretty quiet on the letters & phone calls front, which is a little strange, I can't imagine the OR has contacted them all yet. I did get a phone call from one of my catalogues yesterday and they were quite snotty when I told them I'd gone BR...... "well, there's nothing here on the file about this".... oh sorry, was I supposed to inform you first?
OR interview on Thursday  Am not feeling too bad about it tbh, I'm kind of in a "what will be, will be" sort of mind frame. The worst that could happen now is a BRO for us both (which we're both expecting) and possibly an IPA for me. But we'll see.
Oh, one more thing I must tell you all about. As you all know, we moved into rented in Jan and paid 6 months rent in advance. Well, the plan was to go onto monthly rent after that 6 month period....... I was informed by the Letting Agent that unless we can either pass a credit check (ooooh, look at that flying pig over there) or provide a guarantor (someone earning 3 x the monthly rent, so not as straightforward as you might think) that this was NOT an optionLuckily, we have managed to secure a guarantor, but I just wanted to tell you all about this for anyone else considering doing similar to what we did. We were told that we could go onto normal monthly payments at the end of the first 6 month period with no problems. We were woefully misinformed
I'm just glad this all came to light now and not in another few months when the tenency was up for renewal. Our only other option would have been to have paid another 6 months rent in advance........ we wouldn't have had a hope in hell of raising that sort of money by July. So..... just a word of warning there really

Thats shocking Scarlett. These LL's/LA make my blood boil:mad:
Did you not have anything in writing ? i wonder where you would stand legally?
Although i'm sure you wouldn't want to make waves though and kick up a fuss as that would probably mean looking for a whole new property:rolleyes: . They really have you by the balls. The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
Hi Scarlett, your thread and BR diary is so useful. So, if you get a guarantor are you ok in doing the monthly rent? Im kind of looking at doing the same as you- looking at renting and letting go of house. Ive got two weeks to go before BR date and am hoping to get rental sorted by then, dont think its going to happen though. These letting agents sound like a total nightmare.0

They certainly do BLTN and don't they bloody know it, the gits
Unfortunately we were a bit naiveWe had nothing in writing to say this, only the other LA's(the one that did the 'sell', so to speak) word, he told us when we went to sign the tenency that it would be NO problem to go to normal monthly rent after 6 months. He was basically a big fat liar. The annoying thing is, if we'd known this back in January we would have just gone with the guarantor option from day 1, we wouldn't have had to borrow all that money from my mum then. Grrrrrrrr.
Yep dodecanese, we have a guarantor now and with him in place we're okay to go to normal monthly rental payments in JulyYou can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

Just a quick message to say thanks for your diary Scarlett (have just read through all nine pages whilst at work
).. been very helpful.
Will be starting my own thread shortly as going bankrupt in a couple of weeks, unfortunately my court won't accept "appointments" too far in the future so have to phone next week to arrange it!:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

Thanks guys
Tigerfeet, I don't have my I&E practically memorised or anything like that, oh no, not me
I keep having imaginary discussions with the OR in my head (should I have admitted that?!) and arguments for the reasons why she shouldn't impose an IPATheoretically, there's no way an IPA should be imposed because if you take CTC, CB and son's DLA out of our budget then there is a deficit of quite a lot, so unless she disallows practically everything on my outgoings we should be okay.
Bad timing, but son is off school tomorrow (teacher training day) so there will be much blackmailing involving DVDs and milky bars going on to keep him quietYou can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

Hi Scarlett,
Sorry I've not been around...things are moving slowly but I'm not sure if it's good or bad yet so nothing to report as yet!
I'm so pleased it went well at court, and sorry to hear about your gitwit (hubby's fave non-sweary insult) agents. Ridiculous...glad you managed to sort it out. We've been saying to agents that they can keep three months rent in advance as we are unable to get a guarantor. We haven't a place yet though...been served with pre-eviction court papers though so we need to hurry up.
Best of luck for tomorrow (it will be fine) and I look forward to hearing how it went.
Crystal

Well, here we are - just hours away now from the next stage of our BR journey <gulp>. The butterflies in my tummy aren't rampaging around like they were on court day, they're just sort of gently hovering in the background, giving me a little nudge every now and again to remind me they're there
No doubt as 11.00am approaches they'll all wake up and decide to throw a party, but I'll deal with them with coffee and fags
Will keep you all postedYou can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that
