Oh wow, sounds horrible!!!!! It has alwayed annoyed me that the rarely seems to be consistency at the insolvency service - we're always told contradictory information - it does make it very difficult to accurately work out your I&E when you don't have the right info.

Take heart from the fact that your IPA definitely won't be so high once your change in hours is taken into account.

Re: the OR's comment about the BRO...

My theory on this is that with the sheer volume of people filing for BR this year maybe they simply haven't got the manpower/time to supervise BROs as well...he probably shouldn't have mentioned it (my guess is it's probably unofficial)...

Also reading Fermi's very useful post, you could argue that your income is not 'singnificant' (even with your full time hours if it was in any way 'significant' you wouldn't be getting WTC) and that the Child Benefit and CTC should be disregarded as it would affect yous kids quality of life - you're awarded that amount for a reason Scarlett so don't be afraid to stick to your guns. As it says: "Whilst it is acknowledged that in the figures for expenditure there may be outgoings for the benefit of the children, at least to the value of the child benefit received, to ensure that there is no risk of them being deprived of it, child benefit should not be included in IPA assessments."

Those were my first thoughts as well.

I've also had a "nod and a wink" that the IS is due to do some major IT/admin upgrades and changes this year, which by the sound of it might result in even more backlogs of work.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for all your kind words and support, it's much appreciated, as always :)

I'm going to send a copy of my new contract off to the OR's office today, so they can see exactly how much my income will drop after next week.

Something else that I found strange - he asked me to send in copies of my pay slips each week to him from now on. I just said 'okay then' and never thought to question it at the time

In slightly better news, he did say that he had no intention at all of contacting the landlord. He said they don't do that unless you're in arrears. Which we know is not correct, because wasn't there the case a couple of weeks ago when someone was told that they HAVE to contact the LL? Example number 5925 of the inconsistences of the ORs

He didn't say to me how long it would be before I heard from him and I was so stunned and shellshocked that I forgot to ask. He did tell H though that it would 8-10 weeks before he heard about a BRO but I don't know whether IPA timescales are they same

Anyway, Scarlett. The best thing to do is see what figures come back in the end regarding the IPA.

You certainly wouldn't be the first person to have an examiner suggest that a hefty IPA is possible in the interview, only to find that when they get back to you things are different.

It's definitely worth querying with someone more senior if the IPA paperwork comes through with the Child Benefit and DLA still counting towards it. There are very strong grounds to query those at the very least.

You're right Fermi, I just need to wait and see what happens now and NOT tie myself up in knots worrying about it.

I can't do anything until I hear from then, so I'll try not to fret (too much) until then and take it from there :)

And at least one person who had DLA included in an IPA appealed and got it squashed.

Plus a search for DLA and IPA produces lots of results that confirm: http://www.debtquestions.co.uk/debt_forum/search.php?keywords=DLA+IPA&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

EDIT: As you say, wait and see. It's not set in stone yet. :D
