You need to stay in the shelter, in case you get "brainwashed" by the "MSM".theartfullodger wrote: »Gosh you've led a sheltered life....0 -
I'd be tempted to do a few things...
1. If you're not short of cash install a letterbox in the window he keep chapping like its a door. It'd !!!! him off but perhaps its a good teaching opportunity about the difference between doors and windows.
2. A cheaper alternative - start entering and exiting via a window instead of the door.
3. If he has a neighbour (or neighbours) spying on you there's literally hundreds of ways you can take advantage of that. A fake disposing of a body late at night. Plant something 'interesting' in your mail for him to find. If you have a builder friend (or just anyone willing to wear a dirty hi-vis and his jeans low stand in the front garden pointing at parts of the building randomly and making drilling/chopping gestures. When the LL comes round again have a hazmat/biohazard suit you can answer the door wearing...0 -
I would happily ignore him, but when he's standing outside tapping on my windows, thats quite difficult to pretend not to hear :eek:It's your prerogative to ignore it, but why not deal with the junk mail, one less excuse for him.
Did the landlord ever live in your home, perhaps he's overly emotionally attached to it still?0 -

I needed this laugh today, thankyou.
I hadn't considered planting things in the post, thats a good idea. It would give him something to talk about at least.0 -

But I basically told him I was on my way out everytime he visited and the visits stopped. He got the message. I also changed the locks so he couldn't come in if he wanted to (although he didn't).
I don't think he was actually trying it on with me in a sexual sense, I think he had no filter as to what was appropriate and what wasn't. I think he got off a bit on 'power' as a LL and although it was rather worrying and intrusive at the time, we did iron it out every time he tried to insist he could do something that legally he couldn't. His partner was even worse and I had a few arguments with him, telling him where to get off. I have to admit though, the situation put me off private LL's for life. You don't need those kind of constant tussles. I'm not a person who enjoys conflicts but will stand up for myself when forced to.
I hadn't actually realised I was within my rights to change the locks. Makes sense actually.
RE: the conflicts, you're so right. I was lucky to find this flat after moving for work and a very very stressful few months, so having the LL being a creepy pest hasn't been easy. I've been really blunt with him, and told him explicitly to give me 24 hours notice if he's coming round, but 18 months in, he still hasn't got the message.0 -

But better still, invite him on a one-time only basis and make clear to him,in as friendly a way as possible, that this is unacceptable and he's t stop.
Can you bake?0
