Absolutely nothing about extra hours.
Yesterday i had to practically beg my team leader to let me go home as i was having chest pains and was struggling to breath.
I managed to stay until 10:30 but i then just had to leave with his permission as it was just intolerable.
They have been told by my GP and Cardiologist that if anything happens to me on their watch they are responsible.
Have you not heard of personal responsibility for your own health?
Quite simply, just say no to the extra shifts.
And they have risk assessments and occupational health policies in place to cover their duty of care?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I have said no to the extra shifts...and i took the job purely because it was meant to be sixteen hours per week which i can cope with.
I told them during the interview i cannot do more due to ill health.
They don't take a blind bit of notice when i say no...i spoke to another colleague yesterday she is contracted for 8 yet she is on 27 hours per week.0 -

nonsense, it's nothing whatsoever to do with GP or cardiologist, it has to do with You taking responsibility and the company being given all of the necessary information to undertake and informed risk assessment.0 -

Also, it doesn't matter who is responsible. The OPs condition is life threatening, it will be them that suffers, and potentially dies.
There may be some sort of ability for their family to sue the company, depending on what they knew and what was said, but it'd be better for everyone involved if the OP didn't die in the first place.0 -

Whilst I admire your determination to work, no job is worth killing yourself over
I know its very difficult to turn down the work when its offered, but you have to gather up the courage and say " I took this job on the understanding that it was 16 hrs and that's all I am prepared to do"
I too have had to have the same conversation this last week, my health is suffering again so I need less hours, and my health condition isn't life threatening
I cover where I can, but not to the detriment of my health
Now you must be liked and can do the job well which is why you are getting the extra hours over someone else, but you have to make it clear to them that you physically are not able to work more then you have stated0 -

I've texted my manager and told him again i just can't do those hours i have enough appointments at the hospital and assignments to do let alone 30 + Hours.
One last thing if they fire me will i still get paid?

They have to pay you any outstanding monies and holiday pay that's been accured0

Sorry to bring this up again.
I have just checked my shift patterns for this week...38 hours and 30 minutes i am in for.
And my manager has said he won't fire me and if i don't do 4 weeks notice he won't pay.0 -

He has to pay you for any work you have already done. Plus holiday accrued. If he says he 'won't pay you' just ignore him.
Just don't go in again. If you don't get paid, post back here and someone will be able to tell you how to claim it.0 -

Have I got this right - the contract says 16 hours a week, the OP for some reason unexplained doesn't just say 'no' when additional shifts are allocated, and your advice is to just abruptly quit without notice...?0
